This museum, not far from the central park in Murmansk, was amazing. Best if you speak Russian -- but then, if you're in Murmansk, you either speak a little or are touring with a guide. The museum gives a flavor of wildlife, native peoples, exploration....More

We stopped here during a recent cruise. Murmansk is the largest city situated above the Arctic Circle. It was dubbed "The City of Heroes" following WW ll when it withstood more then 3 years of attacks from Nazi forces. There are several highlights worthy of...More

Small and old local museum. But quality is very fine. You can see what is Arctic. But there's no English guide. You have to google the Russian to know what do these means.

The historical museum is divided in several sections, history, nature, economy, period 1940-1944, Saami, marine, navy and so on. With 17 exposition halls it is not to big and give a nice impression about the role of Murmansk and Kola Peninsula. Let us guide you...More

Spent a good couple of hours there on Sunday afternoon. There are lots of stairs to climb (as seems to be the case in lots of places in Murmansk), but as each floor has interesting things to see I was happy enough to wheeze up...More

This is a very informative museum. We had an english speaking guide - so that made it easier to go through the important exhibits. It is worth a visit to know more about the region and also about Russian history. Learned a lot about Kola,...More
