Moscow's Peter the Great monument definitely stands out at 322 feet of stainless steel, bronze, and copper and is housed less than a mile from the famous Kremlin wall. The monument, created by sculptor Zurab Tsereteli, depicts the Russian czar at the wheel of a ship with a document in his hands.

Disproportionate twisted Godzilla
Dec 2020
I live in Moscow so I passed by this behemoth numerous times - in summer and in winter, when it rained and when the sun shone, in cold and windy February and in hot July. Never changed my point of view - ugly!
So, passing it by, please close your eyes or this bugbear would come to you at night in your dreams.
Not recommended at all. Avoid. One of the most unprepossessing monuments I've ever seen in sixty-three years of my life.

Baffled with how to reach the base of the statue
Dec 2019 • Couples
When walking towards Gorkyi park we saw Peter’s statue and decided to visit in first. We were on the other embankment so we walked towards the bridge, made it into the Red October factory district and reached a fence. The naval sculpture is off-limits, no wonder tourist buses simply drive by on the embankment opposite Muzeon and leave.

We got great shots from the embankment at Muzeon.

Even from a distance you can see the enormous size of this statue.
Coming up close you see the beauty and greatness.

If you are anywhere within a kilometer of this monstrosity you will see it.

Talk about overblown.

And P the G hated Moscow anyway.

Enormous monument in honor of Peter the Great emperor. It is located close to the Muzeon Art Park and in a small island at Moskva River.

A must see

Make sure you stop of for a little while to see this striking monument located by the river, you can’t miss it towering above you.

Get your view from the nearby ornate bridge for best photos, whilst also capturing marvellous vistas of the Kremlin.

Surprising that its so new.

Huge sculpture

My first impression when I saw this monument from a distance was that it kind of disrupted the line of the area landscape. As I approached to it, I thought it was related to Christopher Columbus someway until I got to know it is actually devoted to Peter I, though its original idea is indeed about C Columbus. Anyway, it was on the way, and probably its size is the most appealing part, though I think it looks good in its own style.
