About
Ostankino TV tower - the highest point in Moscow. From viewing platforms open most brilliant panoramic views of the capital. From a vantage point 337 meters of the capital lies at a glance: Here Lomonosov Moscow State University University, Christ the Savior Cathedral, the Kremlin towers, the complex "Moscow City". Afternoon - the best time to make a photographic miniatures of the city, take a walk on the glass floor and try out our binoculars and telescopes. In the evening, you can leisurely look at the bizarre shapes of the city lights, sitting in a high-altitude restaurant "Seventh Heaven", which rotates around its axis. It is interesting to walk around the tower. In addition to the beautiful "Ostankino" Museum-Estate with park and ancient palaces, here it is worthy of attention "Exhibition of Economic Achievements." Ostankino Tower is among the ten highest free-standing buildings of the world. Today it is not only unique in the signal power radio and television transmitting station, and meteorological observatory, a giant lightning rod, and, of course, one of the most recognizable symbols of Moscow. From an architectural point of view it is a flower that grows out of the heavens. It is weighty "petals" on the ground, holding a thick but relatively easy "stem." This is a very bold in its design structure: the base of the tower - only 4.6 meters deep. At the same time its height - 540 meters. The real revolution in the construction of high-rise! At the time of opening in 1967 it was the tallest building in the world and held this position for 10 years. Climbing the legendary tower already made tens of millions of people.

Enjoying Moscow from the highest point, is beautiful. You will need your passport to get in. Security is very tight. We went through check points, twice.
As you reach the top; and this is great for people with the fear of heights; you will see down through “glass floor”. The rotating floor around the café is nice.

SEE photos.

This TV tower has the most beautiful view of the city. The controls are very rigorous, but you have the ability to leave things that should not be entered. You must provide a passport at the entrance to get your ticket. The price for an adult ticket is 900 rubles if you enter by 11 am, after that it is 1200 rubles. The weekends cost 1400 rubles. Students have a discount if they have an ISCI card. Below the platform, there are 2 restaurants and a cafe where you can have a coffee with the most beautiful view or dine at one of the Russian specialties. On the platform itself, there is a section that has a glass floor where you can picture yourself standing 337 meters above the ground.

I've visited the tower in 1972 (thanks to my grandpa - it was his idea and performance). My wife has had an attempt in late 80-ies, but it didn't fell through. So, present day decision was - we'll make it now. As a family, with our daughter accompanying. Their first time . Whilst it was wife's Birthday, we've decided to add a meal on a 330m height.
The attraction is still the same, which pleased me (lot of Soviet things were good, this one is no exception). Yes, present day adds a tighter security - it takes a bit of your time, but once you're "up and circling", the rest is of no matter.
If you coordinate your logistics yourself, you don't see obstacles - you pace them through. The ongoing corona-virus experience is to the benefit: less people admitted, tighter medical measures introduced and being run. I'm glad we've had it - and not taken the "let's better delay it" stance - we don't know what tomorrow brings, and what public place will be shut down then. Admission ticket is pricey, but meal is quite democratic (for the height where it is served). Overall service is good and smooth.

Once you get to the highest available floor for visitors (hight: 337 m), you can have a very good view over the Moscow city. I guess a sunny day would be the best time to visit this place.
Looking down the glass floor is the best, kind of scary experience you might have there.
....
Two successive security check at the entrance (just like the airports) is too much!

On the day we visited VDKHn we boarded monorail (metro line 13) a few meters from the URSS Canada pavilion and upon reaching the TV station we saw the day had become even more foggy and it had engulfed the upper third of the tower so we left to do the subway stations touring.

Must see. Place with great history of TV in Russia. Remember, prior online booking will be better to avoid disappointment. A good clear sunny day will give you a wonderful panorama of Moscow city.

Everything you’ve read about the security is not an exaggeration 😀. Once you traverse security get into the building itself and take the elevator to the observation deck, the view is spectacular. After taking a stroll around the observation deck, do yourself a favor and walk down the stairs to the cafe. It is only one or two flights of stairs and when you get there you can order wine beer light snacks and enjoy the rotating floor that allows you to view Moscow at all angles. The staff does not rush you out and you can literally sit there as long as you want making it is very relaxing and enjoyable experience. If you were visiting Moscow I think this is a must do.

Plan your visit well. It can be little confusing if you travel on your own. Buy tickets online. And carry your passport and be ready to multiple security checks. The view from the top is reasonable, but don’t expect much.

Not to be missed!
A really nice lunch, real traditional German food with spectacular views. The viewing platform and bar was very full with people squashed up against the windows but one floor up the restaurant was very relaxed and as it revolves you don’t miss anything.
Definitely one of my favourite experiences of my trip to Berlin.
