Grandeur grocery shopping

The outside of the building does not even draw your attention, but the interior is a stroll back to the 19th century. Even the uniforms of the employees add to the emporium ambiance. I could not decide wether to check the goods on the antique shelves or the wonderful art deco trimmings or the immense lamps that hang from the ceiling.

Unique way of food shopping

If you are interested in combining excellent quality Russian groceries//food/wine shopping with cultural experience, Yeliseyevskiy is not to be missed: not only you get a chance to buy excellent quality produce, but also the store itself is a feast for anyone's eyes - beautiful unique and sumptuous interiors you will not forget!

Stunningly Beautiful

Breathtaking internal architecture; beautiful displays, extensive stock varieties and excellent refrigerated displays. Certainly not your 'average Department Store' but so worth a visit and to see some Russian architectural history

Not your typical grocery store

We always shop at grocery stores when we travel because that is where we can experience what the locals eat. We have never gone grocery shopping in a converted 18th century mansion complete with stained glass, chandeliers and ornate art nouveau decorations! We didn't buy much but just marveled at the beauty of the store. There were souvenirs to purchase here as well.

This must be the most beautiful grocery store in the world!

It's simply stunning! The rooms are spectacular! It's very hard to believe that this is a grocery store. I walked around not believing the decorations and wood work and the chandeliers.

Great Building - Average food

I was looking forward to visit Yeliseev's Food Hall on my first ever trip to Russia. I was hoping to get a feel for this vast countries produce, products and ingredients, but instead I found that there are great French wines and champagnes on sale, jams from all over Europe and many other non Russian products. The food hall itself is really stunning, architecturally very interesting, unfortunately with the exception of a good variety of caviar and smoked and dried fish products I could not find what I was was coming to see.

This grocery store is not only beautiful in an over-the-top way, it has an extensive assortment of items ranging from liquor to tinned meats to cavier to soaps. The prices are not the cheapest, but the experience is worth it.

Nice interior done in the Modernisme Style. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there, but by all means stop in if you are going by. If you have seen Harrods or other high end food halls then this is not a big deal. Do not shop there unless you are looking for a particular item unavailable elsewhere.
