Can't miss this particularly beautiful church at the north side of Red Square. A pleasure to see and even more beautiful on the inside. It's a functioning place of worship so make sure to go inside to see the frescos but at an appropriate time.

The Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan (Казанский собор) is a beautiful Russian Orthodox church located on the north side of Red Square near the Resurrection Gate and the State Historical Museum. It was considered one of the most important churches in Moscow. It was built in honor of the Virgin of Kazan icon (Казанская Богоматерь). One of the most... More

Kazan Church sits in the corner of Red Square near the Historical Museum. It was demolished under Stalin's orders in the 1930's but rebuilt in the early 1990's using original specs and photographs. It is a living place of worship with bright, vibrant frescoes. When you enter, be respectful - men take off your hats, and women put on a... More

This is a beautiful and picturesque cathedral inside and outside and is on the opposite side of the Kremlin wall and Lenin's mausoleum on Red Square.

It is located just at the corner between the Red Square and the Nikolskaya street, next to the History Museum. Unfortunately this is only a reconstruction of the original church which was destroyed by Stalin in 1936. The original church had been built in 1615ca. to commemorate the liberation of Moscow from the Polish armies thanks to the divine help... More

It is hard to miss this pretty church right on the corner of red square. Take a look inside to see the beautiful interior and if you are lucky like we were you can hear the bells. At a little before five they started chiming. At first I thought it was for the hour but it went about 30 times... More

I went to the Kazan Cathedral as part of my trip around the Red Square. The outside of the building was very pretty. I entered, and there was a sign on the door asking that visitors not take pictures inside. There were two sections to the inside. The outer portion of the inside was beautifully decorated. A priest was leading... More

On the northern side of Red Sq, to the right from the Historical museum is this vivid colored small Church. Compared to Red Sq and its buildings grandeur, it looks small, like a toy house. Since it is right there, on the Red Sq, there's no chance you can miss it. But, don't just take a photo, go inside and... More

The Kazan Cathedral is sited on the Red Square. It is a typical structure of orthrodox churches on Russia. If you find it open don't be afraid to enter it's amazing.

Gorgeous little church, located at the Red square. Todays building is reconstruction since the original was demolished by Stalin. Worth seeing, especially since it has such a good location.
