The red square does provide such a festive atmosphere! Especially during the Christmas time as there is the Christmas market and all the little lights. This makes the place even more beautiful :-)

Amazing. So much history in one place. Just to stand in Red Square. And so many great historical sites within walking distance. You could spend days in the area.

This was one of the highlights of the Russian tour. To be in the red square and not feel in awe must mean that you are dead :) The photo opportunities in daylight as well as night - gives me the shivers!!!

Always wanted to be in this square and it didn't disappoint. It is so big. The department store that runs the length of the square was a real treat. Simple, tasty food and fascinating shops.

Historical Museum on Red Square. After satisfying your
historical curiosities, indulge in modern pleasures at
GUM Department Store - not just for the sake of
shopping but for the sake of architectural pleasure as
well.

I have friends who love Russia in winter. Snow and cold (although they say not as cold as it used to be). If you like that weather why not go for it.
