The museum is alongside the Rizhkaya station and if you arrive on metro line 6(orange) you will need to use the subway to cross the very busy road. While the lady taking entrance money didn't speak English she realised that I was English she produce an English guide (all the information along side exhibits is in Russian). There are four... Paid 70 rubles (student price) to see a lot of trains including some where you could go inside. Only criticism is the 200 rubles for photos, but that seems common in Russia.

For those of you who like trains then you will love this place!! For just 250 rubles + an extra 200 for the privilege of taking pictures there are a lot of very very large engines to see. Spread nose to tail over 4 platforms but sadly without any English translations at all it is a sight to see. I... More

So we found this train museum but arrived 30 minutes before they closed the indoor layout. The outdoor portionwas already folded for the day. So we will have to go visit the open air part another day. The HO scale layout was really neat.

We found this Museum in spite of most Moscow Railway Museum references directing one to the Lenin Museum with it's one steam loco. Here we were impressed with the big locomotive line-up Steam, electirics, diesels snow ploughs are well spaced so it was possible to take reasonable photographs.of most exibits. The adjacent display is a big model railway which is... More

Situated in a park with a gatekeeper this museum is not easy to find.Main feature of this indoor collection is the beautifully preserved locomotive and wagon which carried Lenin's body to Moscow after his death. Not a lot of English explanation so a guide (which had been arranged for us) is a good idea. There is another outdoor Railway Museum... More

It is an open-air museum that features about 70 trains\steam engines\etc. Tours in English are available, but must be arranged in advance. There is also a special tour on so-called retro-train to depot, where you can see turntable at work and roundhouse, as well as see the house of pre-Soviet era railwayworker. Then you see how the steam engine is... More
