You can't imagine the feeling seeing this creation in front of you. Like all of a sudden, it was right there beneath the small houses and some trees. What's interesting was that locals don't know what it's called. Hello people! We should be tourist guides of our own country.

Situated in the Parian area just off Colon Street is this massive imposing monument. Parts looking in some need of repair and maintenance. The size of this monument is surprising as you look around and see the run down area. One wonders why here? At one time this was possibly the centre of the city. Vibrant and wealthy? But the... This place provides insight into Cebu City's rich culture and significant historical events as captured by each sculpture. I love how this monument is erected in the midst of the city centre serving a continuous reminder of Cebu's significant timeline for locals and visitors.

It was a huge monument but I'm wondering why some of the local do not even know the name of the place,(we just ask the local for direction) I think maybe its already normal for them (just side of the road) I hope they will maintain this historical landmark.

This massive monument, comprising bronze statuary representing a snap shot of Cebu's history for the past 500 years, is built right on the spot of the original Plaza Parian in Cebu City. It was conceived by award winning sculptor Eduardo Castrillo, and depicts significant moments from Cebu's history, beginning with Mactan Island chieftain Lapu Lapu's battle with the Spaniards in... very large multi-sided monument celebrating Cebu's history ... lots to see and it's a great pjoto opportunity ... close to the Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House and the Colon Obelisk so you can combine a visit all three locations at the one time ... the monument needs some TLC in places and it would be a shame to see such an important landmark... This offers a short version of what the City of Cebu is proud of, its history in monument and painting. It's a small plaza to walk in close to the Cebu Cathedral and not far from the Basilica of Sto. Nino, magellans cross and Fort san Pedro

This is easily accessible since it is in downtown Cebu with a lot of options for transport (public utility or private vehicles). You need to bring a device with internet access to learn about the monument. A good drop off point if you wish to see the other historic sights of Cebu - Yap-Sandiego Ancestral house, Colon St., Casa Gorordo,... More
