The tour of the well-furnished home was lead by a very well-informed guide and provided a wealth of information into an often overlooked figure in out history. We really enjoyed the detail and care with which the house has been preserved and the tour was nicely organized and presented. This tour pairs well with tours of the Harriet Tubman house,... More

If you are looking for a fully furnished historical home this one was great to tour in finger lakes. Was worried as there weren't alot of pictures on trip advisor. Alot of the pieces were original to the house. After taking the tour we learned alot about this secretary of state. I recommend if you are in the area to... More

We stopped in this place but did not have the time to explore. They have a decent shop where you can buy Finger Lakes stuff. If for anything, I got to see a "vehicle" of Seward for free. The exterior of the house is so unique, got to have photos there too. Parking is ok, and it's in downtown Auburn.

We visited the Seward House Museum on the first Friday of the month. In Auburn some local sites, restaurants, and stores extend their business hours on the first Friday of each month in the summer. We were warmly welcomed with free admission from 5-8pm - along with punch, wine or beer, and live music! The locals were so nice! The... More

we learned alot about William Seward and his time in public service; that part was exceptionally interesting to us; the house tour is uninspiring; a nice home of the era nicely kept; nice docents; just we are tired of seeing furniture and such; give us mor of the pure history ...

We took a tour here on a very hot summer day. It is not air conditioned, so keep that in mind when you go. They had the upper level closed due to the heat, but our guide did let us up to look quickly in a couple of the rooms. Since the house has always remained in the Seward family,... More

Had seen that this was rated the #1 attraction in Auburn and thought it might be "nice" to do ... price was reasonable ... $9 or $10 for an hour tour of the house which went into quite a bit of detail and there was lots of see. Just be aware that only fans in the house in the summer... More

If you like Civil War history, this is a place you need to visit. Seward was as critical to the preservation of the Union as Lincoln and Grant (Sherman too, but that's for another review). The home life he left behind to do his work as a statesman reflected the values he took with him. Just staring at the books... More
