The house where Trujillo declared its independence from Spain. It's owned by and attached to the BBVA bank next door. There are two courtyards, a room with beautiful period furnishings, and a few rooms with exhibitions. I'm not sure if these change or not. When...More

But it's interesting to view and parts of the building are colonial. It played an important part in the history of the country and its split from Spain. Off of the walking street

This is a working bank and we took a tour with our tour guide for the day. There are rooms with old furniture, but with a guide a lot of history is revealed. Worth a tour, and better yet with a guide.

When I visited la Casa de la Emancipacion, there was an exposition of the Peruvian poet Cesar Vallejo. I really admired the collection of his translated works into Finnish and better known languages. It's an old mansion which gives the visitor an unique sight into...More

We were glad we had a guide to explain the significance of this lovely old home. It is owned and restored by a Bank, and a tour is free. Worth a few minutes of your time, and if you have someone to walk you through...More

The entrance is free, but if the house is nice with some nice equipment, the displays and objects, without any explanation, will just be understandable by peruvians

Overall, we were disappointed with our city visit to Trujillo. This is perhaps more interesting than the other "mansions" we saw. Nothing special

This locale will be much more meaningful to Peruvians than to foreigners. For the latter, I'd say it's most interesting as a good example of the architecture of the period.

We wandered into this place one evening near the main plaza. It's free! The architecture of the building is lovely. I wish there had been someone to explain the history. When we visited there was an exhibit about Peruvian writer Ceasar Valllejo and an exhibit...More

We liked the sense of the past maintained in this lovely home. The tours gives you a taste of the architecture and furnishings, and the interior courtyard was a good photo op. Small but important building, and worth the visit.
