A fascinating and educational overview of the many cultures - Chimu, Moche, Nazga - that populated the area before the Incans arrived.

Disappointed that you couldn't take pictures at the Museo Huacas de Moche? Come by here, they don't have the wealth of artifacts, but they have some very fine ones. Also interesting stuff from Nasca, Inca, and Chimu, plus some good art. Well described and laid...More

This museum is worth visiting to give you an overview of the different pre-Inca cultures that existed in this area of the Northern Coast. But it's much more interesting and worthwhile to visit the sites themselves if you have the time.

The Moche ceramics are very plastic and are the main source for our knowledge about the culture, together with the discovered friezes. On display are also some wooden and stone sculptures.

The casa is a real charmer. Murals of Venice decorate the courtyard walls. The dioramas are sweetly homemade looking, but very accessible for school kids and the ceramics as good as you will see at Lorca. It is the only museo that gives a broad...More

We liked it. What a fabulous courtyard. Accessible layout and good contextualisation but you really need a guide to tell you the difference between the Moche and the Chimu pots and the relevance of their iconography. Pop in and have a pisco sour after. Particularly...More
