This is one of the most beautiful place I have ever seen. You have to go there. A mix of walking 3km...and lots of trees, birds, caymans and monkeys. Take your camera, bug spray, sun protection spray and water.

Lake Sandoval was the most impressive thing in the amazon rainforest during my visit. The area is only accessible by boat and you enter the lake through a small passage. The lake has giant sea otters, a large variety of birds, monkeys on the surrounding...More

Well worth a visit. Quite a long walk to where you get on the boats but ok if you're reasonably fit. Wildlife to spot during this walk - beautiful butterflies!!! We are 64 and 70 and managed it easily! Very peaceful on the lake with...More

I was here for 4 days in August. It is a beautiful lake filled with wildlife. I was a sloth, 4 types of monkeys, river otters, caimen, tones of birds, frogs, spiders, and more. The nicest thing is that no motorized boats are allowed on...More

A canoe visit to Lago Sandoval is a great way to get a better understanding of the birds and wildlife that live in the jungle. It is calm, beautiful and interesting.

The lake is really peaceful. We watched an otter family feeding and playing. Saw lots of monkeys too. And plenty of birds. We left at dusk and walked back to the Amazon with our guide in the dark with torches. Lots of tarrantulas!

You can't go wrong in booking a trip to Sandoval Lake. It does require a trek along a very open and wide path by foot after arriving by boat, but the walk is beautiful! The lake has a lookout tower that is most likely included...More

The visit to the lake was managed well by our guide. There was a fair amount of walking in gumboots but the canoe trip around the lake was worth it. There was a variety of wildlife visible along the walking track as well as the...More

Like the others have mentioned this is about a 4-6 hour trip. We stayed at Corto Maltese and left from there. You would not be able to make the trip if you were staying outside of the area.
