The glass ceiling cart is an amazing way to see Panama from coast to coast. They also have small open carts that you can walk to and really get a close look at the sights. There's a bar so you can have a drink while...More

Our tour group took the once-a-day afternoon train from Colon back to Panama City alongside the canal. It was fun to watch things from the train window. The train was clean and comfortable. Oddly, they offered us a snack box on the way out of...More

Riding in the observation car you can appreciate the planning and engineering that went into the construction of this railroad. Traveled from Colon to Panama City in just a short period of time but it was easy to imagine what ti was like before there...More

I did this train ride as part of a tour with Thomson cruises and really enjoyed it. You do not see much of the Panama canal railway but it was great to travel through the vast array of tropical forests in Panama. The carriages are...More

You only get glimpses of the Panama Canal but it's a nice journey through the jungle where it becomes more interesting around Gatun Lake. Our journey was a bus down to Panama City and the train back to Colon as part of an organised tour...More

Took the railway as part of an excursion from our cruise ship berthed in Colon. Lovely carriage interiors with wood panelling. Served large sandwich and coffee on arrival but strangely, given a snack box on departure which, having declined the sandwich and coffee, would have...More

I loved traveling on the Panama Canal Railway. As the name suggests it more or less follows the Panama Canal, but it's not "on the banks" of the canal for most of it's length. Having said that there are many places where you can see...More

We paid a little extra to sit in the dome car of this train, and it was worth it. The train roughly follows the Canal route but there is lots of foliage by the side of the tracks and it's sometimes possible to see wildlife....More

We cruised through the Gutan Locks to the lake and tendered to shore. We then boarded a bus that took us to the outskirts of Panama City to catch the train back to Colon. The bus ride was interesting, but the train ride was fabulous....More

If we are just doing the return trip Colon to Panama City, where do we buy the tickets? Can you buy them in Colon or do we have to buy them at the train station in Panama City? Anybody know the opening hours of the ticket office? Thx

We took it through the cruise line and took the bus to Panama City where we caught the train. When we got to Colon, the bus met us at the station and took us back to the dock. Actually unless you had an excursion, you... More
