Went to the restaurant a couple of times last week and I was really impressed . The food is excellent , prices affordable, very clean, five stars attention, and the presence of the Manager Tania Gomez makes your feel at home.I firmly recommend the place.

I tried to set up a trip via WhatsApp (3 messages) and Email (2 emails). I never received a message back via either, so in the end, I booked a tour with another company. In their defense, my messages were in English, so possibly they weren't able to be read?

Iranys Villarreal gave us a tour of Ron Abuela the Rum factory. Cannot asked for anything better. Iranys knew everything about the Rum. The entire process from the sugar cane being grown all the way to the liquor. Answered all everyone’s questions from the start to the end. Iranys Engish was great. She made sure everyone was interested and involved in the tour from the start to the finish.

This tour is so good and should be an attraction under its own title. Our group of 5 did not go through Hotel Cubita but instead emailed reservaciones@varelahermanos.com to book reservation. We meet in the ancestral home of Abuelo Rum founder which is located on the town square of Pese. The square with church is worth a trip in itself, very quaint. After touring the historical home we drove out to Hacienda San Isidro. Our guide Iranys Villarreal met us at the gate house. We were transported to the Rum distillery on a oxen cart. It was sugar cane harvest season and the distillery was in full swing( harvest season is from January to May). Iranys gave us an informative tour of the distilling process. The hacienda grounds are beautiful. Everyone is very friendly. After the distillery tour we had an amazing refreshing Abuelo Libre drink in the visitor center. This drink is similar to a Mojito but not as sweet or citrusy. This drink has the potential to become the national drink of Panama like the Caipirinha is to Brazil and the Cuba Libre is to Cuba. A simple but well prepared lunch is served before the Rum tasting. We tried 4 different agings of Abuelo. Iranys explained how to savor aged Rum in an informative manner. We all left with a much better understanding of Rum. Highly recommend this tour if in the area.
