About
Our fine Panamanian chocolate is made on premises from the bean. Organic cacao grown by small farmers in the Bocas del Toro region is transformed into chocolate and presented to you in the form of exquisite truffles, bars and more. CHOX is first and foremost a chocolate shop, not a factory or tour facility; however, we would be happy to show you the chocolate making process upon advance request.

Our family took a chocolate making session with Baris and Nyeneweh. They were such good teachers. You could really feel their passion for the art. They taught us the full process from raw cacao beans, roasting and grinding, right though to making variations on dark and milk chocolate. Our kids loved it. The cacao beans that they source from the local indigenous groups were so flavourful, I couldn't believe it.
We have savoured the chocolate that we made in the class for several weeks because it is so good.

My 8 year old and I just had a chocolate lesson and it was fantastic. It lasted about 2.5 hours and I learnt a fair amount about chocolate, knowledge I can take home and will make chocolates for gifts. We ended up with 5 boxes of beautiful chocolates that we are enjoying on the rest of our trip. The owner was excellent at communication via whatsap and we both loved the whole experience. Very much recommend. Just note it is a taxi ridge in out of Boquete, so not walkable from town.

When I came to Boquete I thought a chocolate-making class would be fun to try. I attempted to book with the highly marketed one in town. After numerous attempts, calls/emails, with no response, I searched more and found Chox Chocolates. They say everything happens for a reason and this couldn't have been more true. I had an amazing class with Nyeneweh. She explained the process from cocoa nut to chocolate. it was quite interesting without going on forever. An efficient show and tell. Then we moved on to understanding the different types of chocolate and then right into making the chocolate. The process was interesting and fun. Nyeneweh has such a passion for what she does. She is a true artisan. In looking back, I am so happy I had the opportunity to take this class from a passionate artist rather than an a commercial, high volume entity. She is competitively priced but the value is far superior! If you want a fun class to take, sign up with Chox!

My husband, nephew and his wife and I had an educational and tasty chocolate making class experience at Chox Artisan Chocolate. We saw the entire process starting with cacao beans and ending with delicious chocolate treats that we made ourselves. The chocolate creations were made with true artisan chocolate and were the best souvenirs for our guests to take home with them. I highly recommend this class to visitors, locals and all chocolate lovers !

Highly recommended. The whole family loved this! From 6yo to 46yo, we had a little intro on cacao, grinding and tasting different cacao proportions and then everyone made their own 200gr batch with their favourite proportion, moulds and even painting with edible glitter. It was nice to be able to go as a private group as we got more flexibility on time choice and duration as we were tired from other activities. And makes for a great gift. Loved it!

So informative, interactive, interesting and delicious! Well worth the visit. We came away with boxes of chocolates we’d made, using our favourite type of chocolate and toppings. We choose our moulds, decorated them with shimmer and put in beautiful boxes! Perfect for gifting!!

I not only learned about how chocolate is made, but also about local tribes and trade! I was fascinated by the entire process and loved that I could touch, smell and taste all the way through. From chocolate liquers to cocoa tea, to tasting all the different chocolates - flavors so rich and complex, I don't know if I can go back to commercial chocolate! I especially enjoyed making my own chocolate bars with combinations of white and dark chocolates, fruits, nuts, and coconut.
My bars turned out very professional looking and sooo delicious. I had an incredible time and would recommend this experience to both adults and children alike!

Oh my god what fun! Making great chocolate and eating samples. Now I have even more favorite types of chocolate. So informative and fun to color and form the chocolates we’re bringing home to our friends.
Note that Google lying and is still telling us they are in town but they are now and have been for a while, just outside of Boquete towards David. Need a car or taxi.

We loved this class. When they say "bean to bar", they mean it. We learned all about how to make their delicious, high quality chocolate and left with a pound of it that we have been sharing with people we meet. Baris is very patient and helpful as well as very interesting to talk to. Everyone is amazed at how delicious it is! We highly recommend this class!

This chocolate class was one of the highlights of my trip to Panama. Baris is very knowledgeable and first gave a detailed explanation of how chocolate is made from harvest to end product. His 9 year old son is also passionate about chocolate already and was keen to demonstrate the whole process :) We then went on to making lots of most delicious chocolate. This was good fun - I only struggled to not eat it all right after the class had finished. All in all a great class by a warm and welcoming family!
