Visited Boquete BCP Tuesday Market located where Feria de las Flores is celebrated every January in Boquete, next to the river & main bridge. It is very interesting, with local and expats vendors showing their craft and Art. Had opportunity to talk to several retirees from USA, Canada and EU who had been living in Boquete for several years. They were generous with advice on how to adapt to Boquete way of life. There are two sectors for the fair. One to the right after crossing the bridge has vendors of specialty breads & cakes, freshly harvested vegetables & Fruits, Geisha coffee, French and Panamanian chocolates. A couple of Venezuelan “simpáticas” ladies sell strawberries, arepas “con Perico” y Pabellón. Strongly recommend to visit this BCP Market on Tuesdays from 9-12 AM while in Boquete

I planned especially to be in Boquete on market day. I knew it would be filled with 90% gringos, but that was what I was looking for. There is a huge variety of stuff for sale: fresh produce, baked goods, homemade foods, homemade crafts, a stall with used English books, etc., etc.

Clearly, for the 5,000 people strong expats who live in the area, this is a weekly meet-up experience.

If you want traditional crafts and souvenir-type stuff, there is another market a stone’s throw from this. It is also close to the fair grounds where the beautiful flower displays are.

On Tuesdays at the BCP, this market is geared toward the growing expat community in Boquete. Sells lots of fresh produce (papayas, kale, carrots) and cooked / baked goods also ( cornmeal cakes, breads, chocolates, goat cheese). Sells used books in English and local artesan crafts (woven cloths, keychains, clothing). Priced more than a market for locals. A social gathering place for the gringos. Worth checking out briefly if you are in town in Tuesday. Pick up a snack here and possibly a souvenir.

Most of the pictures show the old location of the market, which was dark and difficult to move around in, with very limited space. now this market is located just across the road from the old place, in a large well lit room with many more stalls and a much better range of goods. With all the social distancing and health rules this is now a much better place where they care about your well-being

Excellent 1-2 hour activity, especially during the rainy season (it's mostly indoors). They have clean loos, and picnic tables around the back.

There is a meeting with a speaker, starting at 10:30. I didn't realize until well after the start, but I was told they have interesting topics mostly for those who live or who are planning to move to Boquete.

Outside, in front, is a flea market atmosphere, with mostly Colombian/Venezuelan venders selling hippy-like bracelets and necklaces. I preferred to bring back hand carved local wood gifts, mulas (indigenous designs on fabric) and local coffee/chocolate.

It is packed, so expect crowds and a bit of bumping. Like Portobello market (but much smaller). TIP: Go after 10:30 when the local meeting starts and the crowds thin out.

The food tables to see: First, head straight away to the tiny table on the outer walkway with the lady selling fresh Cinnabuns for $1. It's down the stairs, to the right, on the outer walkway just before the large book seller. It's easy to miss, look for Cat signs. My friend guided me, and she sells out early. It's called Spicy Cat. (skip the cinnamon roll vendor on the meeting room side - they were dry and stale)
The Spicy Cat also had the best take-away food. I had chicken salad with grapes (on the spot, she gave me a fork) and came back for her pulled pork and stuffed bell peppers to reheat in my cabana. Crammed in next to the Cat Lady table is house made dried pasta ($3) and a Pakistani guy selling his house made chutneys. As someone who loves authentic South Asian food, I bought 2 ($9 for 2). They are the real deal. Quite spicy.

The big fresh veg vendor along the side, Finca Santa Marta, had a lot of bagged produce, touting organic, and bottled/canned organic products, but the prices seemed extremely high. Maybe worthwhile to the Whole Foods crowd.
The fresh veg market all the way in the back, Ana's, seems excellent, was crowded, but I didn't buy as I had no real way to prepare raw food. We did pick up some fresh berries, and they were sweet and reasonably priced.

Arepas, $1-$2. A Colombian sort of griddled corn cake, and stuffed with cheese or veg, are best from the lady on the meeting room side.

Best coffee, inside opposite the meeting entrance. Villa Estrella. Buy a bag or two to bring home. It's the best you will drink. A revelation for punters used to Starbucks. Next to her is Chox. Local chocolate. Seriously beautiful little squares. One of the best gifts you can bring back for a chocolate lover.
Inside is a Jewish Bread bakery table. Excellent breads. They also have samples for the Italian yogurt/goat cheese guy, Piero. His table is on the outer walkway.

There are 2 German sausage vendors. One has a big food truck outside. The other is inside near the chocolate and Villa Estrella coffee. I preferred the inside vendor. $2 for a sausage on a stick.
They also have house made cheeses and smoked meats by the kg.

The vendors take cash (USD) and most can't or won't take bigger than $20.

Virtually all the vendors speak English, most also speak some to excellent Spanish. You will also find Italian, French, German, Urdu, and Turkish.
I left well fed, and well provisioned with gifts.

This is the place where all the old leathery, US American expats come to meet and greet. As in every place they colonise around the world, they do not care for neither local language nor manners, and as everywhere, they scream out their trivial chit chat as loud as their lungs can manage.

Most of the products here can be found in the stores around town - some vegetables and other food might be easily bought here. We stayed for five minutes and left in dismay - it's good that all these people unite in one place on Tuesdays, this way they're not elsewhere.

If you're looking for a market where you can see old, retired, rich, americans say 'hi' to eachother and selling over priced products on the side.. this is THE place for you! Has absolutely nothing to do with panama.

Every Tuesday morning, the expat community puts on the Tuesday market, filled with vendors selling items of every sort ... from organic honey and fresh vegetables to handmade chocolates and local artisans crafts galore. The market is always busy, so it's a great place to meet people and connect with friends. There's also a meeting held featuring speakers on a wide-range of topics -- from "Einstein's Theory of Relativity" to how to keep your home secure.

A market for gringos and nothing different. Made me realize how separate the lives of locals and American retirees are in Boquete. Go over to the produce market where the locals shop/

I am a retired American who lives in David (about 30 minutes from Boquete). I visit this market almost every Tuesday. This is a market for those who appreciate high quality specialty products, as well as fresh vegetables and fruit (including items that are difficult if not impossible to find in a Panamanian market. And are offered for the most part at a reasonable price. For example, I've not seen fresh kale or watercress in any Panamanian vegetable stand or supermarket. This is also a market with vendors, both Panamanian and ex-pat entrepreneurs, that are working very hard to make a living from their farm or business. I'd like to highlight a few of my favorite vendors. First, Piero and Adriane run a goat dairy (Milky Way Creamery) and sell the best chèvre, feta, yogurt, and Kefir that matches the best quality you will find anywhere in the world. Their animals are healthy, they take exceptional pride in their work, and you can taste it in their products. Gluten Free Gold is a bakery that specializes in bread and bakery products of exceptional flavor and quality for the many who have celiac or an allergy to gluten. This has been a godsend for my wife who has a serious sensitivity to gluten. Their sticky buns rival any I've eaten, whether made with wheat flour or not. The legendary Morton's Bakehouse also sells at the Tuesday Market providing the best European style breads available in Panama. The new owner, Bertie, has ably maintained the standard of excellence of Mort, who passed away 2 years ago. Henry Ramirez's Special Meat Corporation makes the trek from Volcan to Boquete to serve the clients of the Tuesday market. He provides high quality farm to table pork, lamb, veal, and beef in cuts that are familiar to Americans and Europeans.... at a very reasonable price. Last but not least Peter and Eira of Quesos de Boquete makes exceptional cheeses including camembert, smoked mozzarella, and his aged "Mountain Cheese" in a European style that would not be out of place in France. Like any market, you try different things and you decide which vendors provide the best value and which you don't care for.... Boquete is a major tourist and vacation draw in Panama, and has attracted many Ex-pats because of the lovely climate. Is this market a place where the average Panamanian making $15-20 per day can shop? Clearly not. But it fills an important niche for the community of Ex-pats and more affluent Panamanians in Boquete with a taste for some of the finer things that may be hard to find in Panama (or outside Panama City). This market is not the typical Panamanian vegetable stand, but it has everything to do with Panama!
