Much cheaper for shopping than Marrakech

A lovely little Medina, with wider streets and less aggressive sellers, a really chilled vibe. Brilliant!

A quiet Medina is the central attraction here.Less hassle than others there are plenty of shops/cafes/restaurants.its easy to get around & it's close to the port area .there are Souks in 1 area plus there is a post office.it gets busy at night & there are many cats here.

As medinas go this is a good one, though smaller than the others we saw. But if we talk about comparisons, it is the friendliest and the least pressurised of those we saw. A good tip if you like things rustic;- go to the wharf, buy fish from the fishermen, take your fish, pick up some olives, harissa, bread and... More

Less hassle than the souks in Marrakesh. Brilliant food in local restaurants and a cool sea breeze. Magic.

There are the tourist shops but there is a vibrant local shopping area. No hassle at all. Lots of wooden produce on offer at very reasonable prices. There is a good range of ceramic, raffia, leather, art galleries and textile.

Nice to have a Medina you can walk around with no hassle, as the local shopkeepers are not pushy but you can have friendly banter with them. The fishing port is amazing so busy and noisy.

By the sea port of the Medina is a row of "tent type" restaurant stalls serving grilled catch of the day specialties. That day we had a giant crab, 6 large sardines, a 2 1/2 pound sea bass and chips - so, so fresh, juicy and expertly grilled. and all for $10 per person. And the shopping around the maze... More

The medina is a great place to shop if you're visiting Essaouira or even Marrakech. The vibe is much more laid back and the shopkeepers tend to wait for you to enquire with them rather than herding you into their stores. The prices are more favourable here than in Marrakech and typically sell a lot of the same stuff (woodwork... More

Not as diversified as the Marrakech medina but at least you do not get lost. I also appreciated the kindness of the people, not pushing too much to sell something.
