It's a great medina to wander around and feels relatively safe. You don't get as hassled as I was expecting but you'll have many people say hello to you or try and offer you tea. A simple non merci or la shokran to people trying...More

We traveled down for Marrakesh for my birthday treat. Unfortunately there was a thick sea mist over the all resort for the whole time we were there 😜 Although this did inhibit our chance to enjoy the pool it did not take away from my...More

We came to Essaouira after spending a week in Marrakech, and what a difference! It was actually a bit chilly (after afternoons in the 90's in Marrakech), but also chill -- very relaxed, even in the souk.

Not the hustle and bustle of Marrakesh but still wonderful and very interesting to see and walk. Lovely every moment, not always comfortable as a woman but expected. Lots to buy and eat!

We travelled to Essaouira after having stayed in Marrakech, and were mindblown by how relaxing, slow-paced and peaceful the atmosphere of this city is! Unlike in Marrakech, we experienced no hagglers and no one 'forcing' us to come into their shops to buy things. Locals...More

There is so much to do & see in the Medina. You really get a sense of the local culture & friendliness of the locals. Its fab just wandering around the souks & narrow alleyways, theres an adventure around every corner.

One of the best medinas we experienced in Morocco. Wandering through the shops and streets and soaking up the culture was wonderful and people very friendly. A great experience.

After a tour to the hot south of Morocco we finished in the relaxed Essaouira. We had a riad in the middle of the medina. On walking distance of all the famous sights.

It's about 2 hours from Marrakesh, costs about 1000 Dhs for private car. Ours was easily arranged by our Dar (small hotel).
