There are two starting point I think, and there is no entrance fee yet because the national park was recently gazetted and the HQ, main gate still under maintenance. Visitors only need to write down name before hiking for record. But don't worry the trail is still good with man made stairs and ropes to help visitors during the hike.... More

As a chauffeur and guide..i been up there once. Gazetted sometimes in 2012 as national park. All guest must registered before hike up the mountain. Registration can be done at foot mountain. Recommended to have a guide for this trip due to few incidents people get lost on the way down. And also make sure up and down with the... More

First advice is to make sure you bring enough water with you. I get thirsty easily, so usually i would bring 2ltr with me. One mineral water and the other will be isotonic drink. Maybe some cookies or chocolate for you to enjoy when u reached the top. The first time i climbed, i doubt it that i can even... More

I have to commend the park for marking the route. It was easy to find the way. Walking on my own, I took extra care to watch my step. The climb is challenging, and can be slippery, so please watch your step. On the way down, take the time to walk up to the waterfall on the blue trail. The... More

Most Caucasians I saw took 3-5 hours to climb to the top and come down. My boyfriend could do it in 2 hours as he climbed it numerous times. But it took me more than 13 hours to finish the whole climb. By the time I got down, it was dark, scary, with animals hooting and growling all around us... More

Beautiful spot, but I cant understand why people would come to an amazing place like this and then throw their empty water bottles and rubbish all over the mountain. The rangers at the bottom need to educate these littering munters before they set off.

Well, we did not reach the top, because we did not have enough time, but was wonderful, we loved it. Great hike and climb, beautiful nature. I recommend to start this trek early in the morning, before ten o'clock am.

We took a taxi for 60RM from kuching waterfront to Mount Santubong. Make sure you start at the right entrance. Our taxi didn't and although it is FREE, you have to sign in at the park rangers so they know who is up the mountain. We didn't know and they could have given us a fine, but luckily they didn't.... Lesson 1 is to start the trek early. I did not get to the summit because I started 2 hours late than the suggested start time at 8am. Lesson 2 is to bring at least 2 1.5L bottles of water, minimum if you want to survive the trek without getting dehydrated, and bring gloves for the rope ladders. Lesson 3... More
