The first thing a tourist would be suggested to visit is the TAR Marine Park. the are a few islands to choose from which is great but you are restricted to the agreed schedule and can't promptly change your plans. When deciding on which company to go with, always negotiate the price! I prefer to bring my own food (some... More

We visited 3 of the islands in as many days and though the beaches were lovely they were spoilt by the large amount of rubbish on the sand and in the water- one of them, I believe it was Sapi had sewage pumping into the sea close to the main swimming area. Getting to the islands is a bit of... More

We went on a daylong snorkeling tour with a company called Diverse Borneo. The pros: -The two spots at which we snorkeled had a wide variety of fish and coral, particularly the reef near Sipi (spelling?) Island. -We had a staff member in the water with us to ensure safety. -The price was very affordable at 120 ringgit. The cons... More

We went scuba diving and the guides were all very knowledgeable and safe with excellent equipment (we had our own masks and fins). We saw loads of fish and had a turtle swim alongside us. Sad part is the rubbish in the sea nearer to KK but unfortunately that's part of a big city in a third world country...

The Park itself comprises a group of islands off Kota Kinabalu. To go you have to book a ferry before 11am and make sure you get return by 5pm. In other words, you get to go when everybody else gets to go and this leaves you with the bitter taste of what it would be like had you stayed on... More

We snorkeled at 4 of the islands (took speedboats from Jesselton Pier) and loved the many kinds of coral and fish. Calm clear waters; perfect for beginner snorkelers. Some places have a lot of trash in the water; I would have liked more educational signs about the wildlife or history of the islands/park.

Took a day tour for snorkeling, lunch and other water sports. The marine park is a lovely location just north of Kota Kinabalu within a few minutes by boat. There are places to jet ski, zipline, kayak, etc. for an extra cost. The only issue is the trash floating in the current coming from Kota Kinabalu. Otherwise a lot lovely... More

As this is a preserve marine park I'm surprised that there's a lot of jet ski going there and a little bit crowded. I did 3 dives here. After the first dive as what my co-divers said they want to see things. Not abundant of marine life and just more of sand. But we enjoyed the second dive as it... More
