We joined a private snorkelling trip from our hotel. Some good, if not great, snorkelling around Mamutik. Lots of fish including clown fish.

Mamutik Island is 20 minutes off the coast of KK. To get there, go to the Jesselton Jetty and buy your tickets (you can also rent your snorkelling equipment at the jetty). Boats leave every 30 minutes or so. When you get off the boat,...More

I have been to better snorkeling places in Malaysia. Was expecting more from Sabah but I guess the good waters are in Sandakan on the east side of Sabah. On Mamutik Island there were only 2 areas to snorkel close to the beach as this...More

Nice beach and good spot die snorkeling. Many fishes and some corals. Many tourist boats go there but it was ok for us.

Really enjoyed going snorkelling on this island. Lots of variety of fish to see. However, this place is a bit spoilt by the sheer number of tourists. Also, this place has the worst toilets on the planet. Use the bathroom prior to your arrival!

Came to Mamutik after Manukan (which was already disappointing. We paid 110 RM for two persons, excluding entrance fee, with a boat from Jesselton Point. We could choose how long we stayed on each island. It was such a disappointment - both beach and sea...More

It was the third and last island we visited on our island hopping. It’s about 5 minutes away from Manukan Island. It was the best place for us to snorkel. There were wonderful fish and corals of all kinds to marvel at. I enjoyed it...More

Tourists come in and out of the bathrooms. Dirty and Sandy in the bathroom is not the issue. The two of the doors of the bathrooms were not functioning. There were no cleaner to clean the bathroom, so you can see rubbish on the bathroom...More

There isn't much for a 4 yr old and a 2 yr old except playing in the water (sea and/or pool) and on the sand. It can get very hot by the beach so take the necessary precautions. Also, be sure to stay in the areas designated... More

not sure about the accommodation on the island -but bear in mind all food/drink on the island is way more expensive than the mainland - so any accommodation built there will almost certainly fall into the "luxury" bracket... More

You can negotiate at Kota Kinabalu habour any kind of island hopping before you start. Small conservation fees have to be paid once you enter some of these islands in addition.
