More
Monsopiad Heritage Village is a traditional village with historical site in the heartland of the Kadazandusun people and it is the only cultural village in Sabah built to commemorates the life and time of the legendary Kadazan and head-hunter warrior "Monsopiad". The direct descendants of Monsopiad, his 6th and 7th generations have build the village on the very land where Monsopiad lived and roamed some three centuries ago to remember their forefather, and to give you an extraordinary insight into their ancient and rich culture. Take a step back into the past, to the days of head hunting and spirit worshipping, when the Bobohizan (High Priestess of the Kadazandusun), ruled the villages and took care of health and spiritual well-being of their people. More than just a Museum, the concept of the Monsopiad Heritage Village is to document, revive and preserve the cultures and traditions, as well as the beliefs of the Kadazandusun people. Monsopiad Heritage Village is privately owned and managed by his direct descendants. Your visit at Monsopiad Heritage Village contribute directly to the conservation of one Malaysia's rich Cultural heritages and traditions.

The tour guides were great and informative. Learnt a lot about history about Monsopiad and the local culture. The cultural part of the show was fun.

There's not a much to see there and expensive fees. But, there's a house with skulls hanging on the ceiling and several weapons used by Monsopiad long time ago. I did try the blow dart and spears, and watching the local people weavings.

Consists of a few tatty huts, very tiny car park. Well. Off the beaten track and hard to find. Not much to see and costs extra for a guide.

Went to the village more than five years ago with very good memory. Revisited again recently. Very disappointed. Whole place is quite rundown and a lot of the previous activities are cancelled. Don't waste your time and money here.

Really enjoyed our visit. Didn't go with expectations. Found the people genuinely keen to share their history and interested in NZ's Maori cultural similarities. Remarkable to be there! Such interesting people. It was a real pleasure to be shown around, privilege to go inside the...More

Kota Kinabalu is more of a gateway to travelling elsewhere. The clock is not so interesting but you will certainly see it while in the city. You don't need to make a special effort to visit the clock. In fact, we could even see it...More

This is a fun attraction. Most tourists go to Mari Mari culture village which is good and a compilation of put together villages. The Monsopiad is the original tribal area. The house of skulls is real. There is not a lot other to see there....More

Great cultural experience. Main attraction there is the house of skulls. 42 real human skulls, lined up on the top of the room. Signifies a person's strength and power back in the days when the kadazans still practice head hunting. Great explanation by the guide...More
