We drove 2 hours from Kota Kinabalu only to find that the centre was closed until further notice. Unfortunately no one has updated the website and so it still appears open.

We drove all the way to be here to see Rafflesia but the place is closed for maintenance. Why there is no announcement to public and we were so disappointed.

Before going there get info on the presence of flowers which last just over a week and could be absent for up to 9 months

Managed to see one in bloom and one dying out. However, $20 per person was a bit steep for an entrance fee for a very short walk/hike into the growth area. it only took us 10 minutes to complete everything.

We stopped on our tour to Mt. Kinabulu national park. A roadside stall charging about A$10 per person to go down a rough walkway for about 200metres to see the flower. Flower was day 2 in bloom and there was 1 about day 6. Glad...More

I really enjoy this type of tour. The centre itself is well set up and has lots of information about the RAffelesia. We had to trek a long way down the mountain through some pretty steep and slippery terrain. I didn't mind the walk, but...More

Obviously nature cannot be controlled by the authorities - a long way to go and not see one! Quite disappointing really but we went on to a centre near Poring Hot Springs where we saw several.

Always check before traveling and we did, and we saw two flowers including a rare 8 petal flower. It cost 3o Ringgat to go down the path with the guide. Wow - a must do

This was fun to see .. we spotted a notice on the roadside to tell us the flower was in bloom and it did look spectacular.

Can hire a car and drive. Road has some twists and is hilly, but is sealed all the way. Be careful if is wet as can find areas with loads of water on road. Take your time on drive and will be fine. Would suggest that you... More
