Visited recently with a friend and the guide, Kenny, went out of his way to make sure my friend and I were both well informed of the building's relevance to Dr. Sun Yat Sen's history. He was very thorough in his explanations and the whole experience at the museum was exceptionally educational for me and my friend, especially as individuals... More

The man behind the desk was also our guide. He was very funny and informative and kindly offered us free tea and took our photos. Very interesting to read about Sun Yat Sen.

As it says on the sign at the front entrance, this is Dr. Sun Yat Sen's "Penang Base" where he stayed and raised funds during his visits to the island in the early 1900's (mostly just in the first decade & then a little beyond to like 1915); to learn about the man himself are only in the first of... This little shophouse tucked away in 120 Armenian Street is a reminder of a time when Malaya had close links to mainland China thanks to its large Chinese diaspora. This was once Sun Yat-sen's house in Penang, a base from which he and his comrades devised many plans to create a new future for the country he loved. The museum... More

We have been Baba and Nyonya houses before and much enjoyed the architecture as well as the inside. We expected a bit more all around Sun Yat Sen and the struggles against Qing dynasty, but were left a bit unsatisfied. Still a great place to remember the past, yet, would be great to learn more about the uprising and revolution... More

Also history that was new to me about the local Chinese volunteers during WW2 against Japan in China. History are remembered and honoured. I have been to the grand Sun Yet Sen museums and tomb in China. This place is very different. A small homely museum dedicated to Sun Yat Sen's early revolutionary efforts in Penang. A must for history buffs. The hosts were extremely welcoming and passionate about history. Exhibits were interesting. Felt like a guest in ones private house. Refreshments were... More

We have visited other former homes of Dr Sun Yat Sen in China so this added to our knowledge. A small but well equipped Museum with some very interesting exhibits. Well worth the visit.
