Unlike other black-sand beaches, this sand isn't volcanic in nature but rather is streaked black by run-off from a nearby hot spring.

So apart from sand being black due to (popular explanation) huge amount of minerals called Tourmaline and Ilmenite in the granites of Mount Raya. These minerals are run down by the spring water from the mountain and cause the color of sand to turn black,...More

We visited this beach by car - it is out of the way but relatively easy to find using Google. There is a small group of shops there and a good toilet block. You could get souvenirs or something to eat there. The beach itself...More

There is only a small amount of sand that is black. Beach and water was a bit dirty when we were there. Wouldn't recommend going out of your way to see but ok if you want to have a quick look.

It is a quiet place. I like to buy salted shrimp, dried squid because its freshness n clean. If you want to buy shirts, or pants you should bargain more because here its quite expensive a bit.

Nice and clean beach to play . The sands are black in color . There is less crowd in this beach compared to Tanjung Rhu or Cenang.

We were told locally that there are black sand areas. Now, i guess most of it is gone. But the beach is nice for photo graphs.. with Ocean visible at a nearby view.

A nice spot close to the road but - as mentioned by others already - the sand is not black any longer. Anyhow it still provides some nice spots (not with black sand but still extraordinary beautiful) at the beach.
