Our ferry ticket was on 5.30pm 25/03/17 for 5 adults and 2 children. We each the jetty terminal at 5.15pm and waiting for the ferry. We wait until 5.30pm but we did not get any announcement for the jetty. Around 5.35pm we ask the staff the mentioned the ferry already gone. The staff was not telling us with a proper... More

Took Lanta -> Langkawi and Langkawi -> Penang. It sucks a bit that you can not go on the top of the board because they somehow forbid it, therefore also not beeing able to smoke but otherwise it is way more comfortable than taking a plane (more foot room and less overbooked)

It is important to note that there is no one ferry service from Penang to Langkawi. In fact, there are numerous ferry services which operate. Some boats are cheap and some are expensive; some ferries have food places whilst others don't etc. The ferry we took was from the terminal opposite the Queen Victoria clock tower in Penang. It cost... More

A ferry terminal next to a shopping mall. Lots of touts near ticket stalls, read the signs and make your own mind up.

In February of 2017 we took the ferry from Penang to Langkawi and back a week later. Both trips were uneventful but i could see where the bad reviews come from if the sea would have been rough. If you are like me you are confused by the conflicting reviews about this trip. The reviews about all the vomiting and... More

I wanted to go from Cameron highland to Langkawi. Tried to book online but the site didn't respond. Only one bus leave Cameron highland 8 am. to reach Penang at 1 pm. and the ferry is at 2 pm. when I reached the terminal they told me it's fully booked! Had to take a taxi with my family and luggage... More

I have been traveling to Langkawi every weekend for the last year on the Langkawi Ferry service. My journey usually takes around 1hr 30 min from kuala Kadah and i look forward to the trip every week. This is because i have discovered that it's a great way to meet people. Imagine that you are confined in a sometimes small... More

The first ferry I took from Kuala Perlis to Langkawi gave me a startling deja-vu moment as some of the instructions on board were in plain Finnish. This large body catamaran must once have served between Helsinki and Tallinn and been sold and ended up here by a long vouyage through the Mediterranean and Suez Canal. Our crossing to Langkawi... I took the ferry from Kuala Perlis about an hour.It is air conditioned and comfortable. There is a ferry from Penang that takes about three hours and not recommended for those susceptible to sea sickness. The fares are reasonable
