Thanks to our guide Fredrica* for helping us trek and climb rocks. The air is dry so lots of water is required. We spent 2 hours here. Began in the jungle and moving on the lava to tsingy and finally to the bat cave. The order of sights and amount of hours spent can be altered as required. It helps... More

Ankarana National park is the most visited park in the North. Doing the Grand Tour, for around six hours walk, is just amazing. Visit the cave, the Perte de rivière or underground river unfinished. So rich in nature, lemurs and birds. Lemurs found in the park are : Crown lemurs, Sportive lemurs, and some nocturnal lemurs, which is active the... More

We visited the parc for two days wich was too much (and the entrance+guide were quite expensive: 65000 ariary per person + guide). However, what we saw was nice. The tsingy are spectacular and there is some nice wild-life (crowned lemur, sandford's brown lemur, sportive lemur, crested coua,...)! Don't miss out on the bat cave, it's really huge and special.... The trip to Ankarana Reserve was a wonderful, unforgettable experience despite blazing heat. Almost right at beginning of the path, I had a close encounter with a crested coua eating fruit and a lovely rufous-colored male Malagasy paradise flycatcher with very long tail feathers, soon followed by a couple of buttonquails. Then we proceeded to a stunning place, the lost... More

A nice park to visit with the mangnificent grey tsingy and many lemurs, chameleons etc. A must-go if in the area, can be combined in one day with Tsingy Rouges if so desired.

We went first thing in the morning to beat the heat, so we were also one of the few people on some of the trails, which was nice. Our day was packed and planned by our wonderful guide Oscar. We started with following the dried up river beds towards the Tsingy Rary (which had a super cool suspension bridge), along... More

Our trip was organised by Cactus Tours Madagascar, Charlie was amazing. Our guide Edi was very knowledgeable and friendly. Ankarana Park is amazingly beautiful. The rock formations are very impressive. We saw a few species of lemurs while we were here and lots of birds. Make sure to wear proper footwear as you do a lot of walking. Also it... More

It might not be very extense but it is very well set and the hike is very much worthwhile. The rocks are so sharp that only by flatenning some parts you are able to visit it. The cave is also very nice but not recommended to "big" people or those who suffer claustrophobia

Very nice and well preserved park. Best to explore with a guide that can select the best parts to see in relation to the period of the year. We went during rain season (it didn't rain while we were there) and we had the chance to see the rock formations, the hole in the ground where the river ends up... More

Ankarana is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places in Madagascar. At least two days should be spent. The rock formations are so impressive that they will take your breath away.
