beautiful church. a must see in almaty. i was taken aback by some kazakh or mongols that walked in and squeezed right in front of the people who were praying.

This is a beautiful cathedral. Very photogenic. However, it is important to remember that it is an active place of worship and so I would recommend looking from the outside.

Candles for those who never come back and you meet them in a heaven... Beautiful and old-fashioned, Christian Ortodox church with great history and plenty of stories... must have to visit!

In the midst of Panfilov's park stands an imposing structure - The Ascension Cathedral. Beautiful and well maintained reminiscent of Russian architecture. Well worth a visit

Beautiful orthodox cathedral in the middle of a park. It was simply beautiful from outside. There are several horse-drawn vehicles outside which the children tends to enjoy riding at. Relaxing at the park outside is good if the weather is not very hot.
