Cheap and good view of the city

There's not a lot to this castle, but the view at the top at was rather pleasant since it is situated on a hill. Go if you enjoy high vantage points and like strolling in parks.

Wow! Meticulously restored turret of the former castle. Make your way to the top of the hill, and you'll be rewarded with some great views of Akita.

It is located in the end corner of Senshu Park. Only cost ¥100 to enter. Osumi-Yagura means a lookout, guardhouse and warehouse built at every corner of the bailey. On display are some history events and a model of Akita city (I guess coz everything is in Japanese). Must go to level 4 where we can enjoy the view of... More

We visited the ruins of Kubota Castle in May 2015. The weather was fine and a moderate 24 to 25 degrees C. The approach to the castle grounds is up a reasonably steep hill followed by many, many, wide stone and gravel steps. I was travelling with a friend with mobility problems and he found the climb achievable but slow.... More

It was a little colder when we were here but we enjoyed walking around the park and castle grounds. It is not the most spectacular castle in Japan but it is definitely worth the visit. The view from the top is worth the small fee to enter.

This place was right near my hotel and i spent a few mornings jogging all around the trails. It's very clean, coordinated, with good views of Akita from the higher elevations.

I only wish i was there during summer where the green are there. Though it was a cold and dry Sunday morning when i visit, it's Kubota! and it's in Akita! My best destination during Japan visit.
