I took an interesting chairlift from the ground upto the castle entrance. It was funny but one time experience is enough. I could see the entire city at the castle. It was great. I went there during the day i am curious about the view...More

The weather was horrible when we went here, but it was still enjoyable. The local people have put a lot of effort into showcasing their town and the castle with nice touches everywhere, including a castle shaped vending machine. The castle town area has lots...More

The second bailey, Ninomari National Park is at the other side of the main entrance. So, it would be good to visit the park first and then slowly walk up to the castle on foot. The castle is breathtakingly beautiful and the view on top...More

The castle was nice, the ropeway was fun (there is both a car and a chairlift), trying out the armour was good, and feeling the sword was interesting. Hang out afterwards and have a drink or icecream while you enjoy the view.

If you are able to, I would definitely suggest walking up to the castle, rather than using the chairlift. It's a lovely, 20-minute walk. The castle is well worth a visit - really interesting history (with English translation on most), lots of different areas to...More

Nice scenery and good place to understand the history and culture of Matsuyama. Month of May is beautiful weather to visit. Take a tram to stop at Okaido station, walk to Ropeway (10 minutes) and take the Cable car or chairlift to the Castle. I...More

I loved this Castle. Well preserved and well presented with lots of bilingual signage. The trip up on the ropeway is fun and the view from the tower is wonderful.

I would ask the concierge of the local hotel you are staying at about available portable devices.
