Very peaceful and Japanese style park

Spring is the best of course. Any season for a reasonable 200 yen you can wander the simple gardens and relax under the view of Matsuyama Castle. After leaving the park it is very easy to climb up the exhilarating path to the top and enter the actual castle grounds.

This park, as I heard, restored recently, so many people don't know about this place a lot. It looks like just peaceful and good to walk with a partner or family. I went here after seeing Matsuyama castle, but it would be better to see here and go to Matsuyama castle for convenience. This park is not that natural, but... More

Ninomaru garden is a beautiful garden on the bottom of Matuyama Castle. Now there is no buildings remaining, but taking a walk by thinking of the old past days is a quite interesting.

The small fee of 100 Yen is well worth a visit - these are truly beautiful. The intricate gardens allow you to wonder around a lovely natural setting and transport you from the city. Make sure to explore each nook as there are some lovely waterfalls around. Although there are steps up to it, which can make it a little... More

Ninomaru Historical Garden is gorgeous. Tucked away at the bottom of the castle hill, it is a calm space away from the tourist bustle. The garden is laid out to the floor plan of the second bailey area of the castle, and the interlocking rectangles combine beautiful waterpools with Japanese plants. At the edges are a couple of water gardens... More

This is a lovely little garden at the foothill of the Matsuyama Castle Hill. Usually very quite, with few visitors, it is a good place to take a detour on the way to or from the castle. On weekends you can participate in a tea ceremony, and throughout the year they hold special events like Japanese music concerts, noh and... More

This was a delightful and unexpected bonus place to visit on our way to Matsuyama Castle. I think it's about 100 yen to get in and it's full of old buildings, their foundations, raked gravel gardens, ponds, little bridges, etc etc etc. There is one part with water dripping into an underground upturned urn, with a bamboo stick coming out... We received an orange with our entry ticket - very nice. There was hardly any one else about so we had the place almost to ourselves and it was a pleasure to sit in peace and quite in nice gardens.
