Discovered this statue just on our way to visit the Castle. The facial expression of the statue is really attractive and lively. In front of the statue is a pile of stones where some children climbed on top of them and took photos.

Kato Kiyomasa is the founder of Kumamoto Castle. It is located closed to one of the entrance. So find it first, before entering the castle. Besides, closed to it you can find Sakura nobaba.

Really not a lie. This is just a statue. It's located by Kumamoto Castle. There's a sign with a little bit of information but good for the picture

It's near the castle so it's interesting to read the plaque to see where he fitted in history and what he did for Kumamoto.

The statue itself is not as impressive as the one in the mountains. However, since it is on the way to the castle, why not stop. There is English explanation which is quite useful.
