This castel is a symbol of Kumamoto and located at the heart of Kumamot downtown. Now it is under construction because it was damaged by a big earthquake. Maybe it takes more than 20 years to recover it.

Closed for renovations! Must have been a beautiful place but there were serious damage to the castle as we saw crumbling walls. Hopefully we can come back to see this castle in a few years.

We were not sure what to expect knowing it had been damaged. Very little signage in English so it was hard to access the areas we eventually did. They have massive restoration job ahead of them!
