Central shopping district most covered over which kept us out of the rain. Not a great many shops that interested me, there is a Diaso ($2.00 shop) so paid my first visit to a Diaso some unusual stuff. Plenty of restaurants & eaterys.

Perhaps I expected too much from Tenmonkan after going to other Japanese cities. I thought there would be a lot of fancy and attractive stores. however, other than drugs store and restaurants, you won't have much to see. I couldn't find any nice Japanese clothes...More

This place may look like the usual shopping street of Japan. However I noticed that they have small streets that branches out which contains little restaurants that may worth your hunt. Go for a walk around this place. The local team will bring you there.

This enclosed pedestrian main street is a few blocks away from Terukuni shrine. It's a nice example of a "gai" or Japanese shopping district, with various stores that would appeal to different needs. The ones in Kumamoto, a city to the north, are more numerous...More

Do not expect to find luxurious goods here, but the local goods are of reasonable quality. Surprisingly there are many drug stores and 100-Yen shops. Food choices are plentiful, ranging from soup noodle to shabu-shabu pork.
