Suikyo Tenmangu is a small shrine near Tenjin, and you might pass by it unnoticed. This shrine is however the birthplace of Tenjin, or better to say Tenjin is named after this shrine. Tenmangu (or Tenjin) is a shrine, which is dedicated to Sugawarano Michizane,...More

Bid area with several building with the Shrine. But wat is most special are several kamfer trees. They are very old. 600 to 1000 years. There is the biggest kamfor tree of Japan.

We walked from Tenjin station by some 15 minutes and arrived there, which was very comfort walking in the morning of September. The proximity to residents also revealed how the daily life of Japanese was. The shrine was not big, and spent you 10 minutes,...More

天神アクロス福岡の向い。菅原道真が九州に着いた時に、池に映った姿を見て歌を詠んだという。その故事と共に菅原道真を祀っている。天神の町名の元でもある由緒ある神社。 The name of town ''Tenjin'' is originally name of a noble politician, Michizane Sugawara(845-903). And he has been enshrined for his superior talent. Though the garden of shrine is small nowadays, it is worth pilgrimaging if you want to trip safe.
