Get some warm clothes and umbrellas for cold air and sudden shower. It has lots of beautiful nature view and looks very Russia with white birches. Very short bamboo-like plants with tall and so straightly grown old trees. U can see snows still left at high part of mountain. Along the wooden walks, u will fall inside beautiful nature. I... I chose to hike up Mt Nantai mainly because it is the premier mountain hike in the area. The hike is steep - about 5 km at an unrelenting gradient (there really is hardly any party of the trail that flattens out) but the views at the top are impressive, even on a day with scattered cloud swirling around when... Crazy vertical hike through varied terrain (from red volcanic rock to street) that offered great views of the area. Can be done by fit hikers in four hours.

During our visit to the lake in early April we were lucky enough to see the summit clearly even though it was a cold day the wind kept the clouds moving. The mountain is a prominent feature of the Lake.

A group of friends hiked up Mt. Nantai during the spring. It was a difficult climb, very steap at some points and went wet the trail becomes pretty muddy. But it was worth the effort. Amazing views of Lake Chuzenji and surrounding areas of Oku-Nikko.

It dominates the lake Chuzen-ji. It is very nice to see the summit covered by clouds. It is mystical. We visited in late September. That was a wonderful season.

Mount Nantai translated means "man's body mountain" and stands at at 2,486 m high. A very prominent landmark and very sacred like neighbouring Mt Nyoho means 'woman's body'. And I think the third sacred mountain is Mount Taro. Very good views.

One of the best views of Mt Nantai would have to be from Mt Hangetsu. This can be reached by the bus interchange at Lake Chuzenji until it reaches the car park and the end of the service. From here head to the corner of the car park where the hand rail ends, follow the sign up the mountain trail... More
