About
YOKOHAMA HAKKEIJIMA SEA PARADISE is a leisure land surrounded by nature. It is located at the tip of Yokohama Bay and is a new generation style amusement park. It is the home of one of the top aquariums in Japan. There is Japan's first surf coaster that swings out over the ocean, an exhilarating vertical fall amusement ride, BLUE FALL. We have specialty shops , great restaurants, a marina and a hotel located among wide grass and flower gardens. There are so many things to do and experience; you will not be satisfied with just one visit. Being at our Sea Paradise creates an ideal setting where man and sea can communicate together.

We specifically went to the aquarium and were very let down… you arrive at the station nearby and walk along a beautiful path along the water. Everything looks great! The we crossed the bridge to “sea paradise” and it was like entering a ghost town. Closed rides and shops everywhere. Followed the signs to the aquarium and were helped by some very friendly staff… then we entered the main aquarium…. It was depressing! The poor walrus… huge animals kept in a tiny enclosure they could barely swim in…. A depressed polar bear kept indoors…. The water was green and murky…. And that was just the start…. Every tank was dirty and in many cases crazy overcrowded. The fish often looked like they were dying…. From there you can go to a “dolphin fantasy”… three very sad dolphins in a tiny tiny rank… it was sad….the only good point is the dolphin show. The belugas and whales actually got to swim in a large space! Because when you look at the other tanks they live in you want to cry…. The final place in the park kept dolphins in an overcrowded dirty old enclosure with such poor water quality you could not see them submerged! Frankly in the US this place would get shut down…. It was sad….and I’m not against zoos or aquariums, love going! But not to sea paradise

Sea paradise is a nice break form all the hustle in the big cities. Its farily easy to get here but some walking is necessary if arriving by monorail. The park itself is free of charge so you only pay if wanting to enter any attraction. I went fot the 4 aquarium ticket which give access to the main aquariam + 3 other smaller places. The main aquarium is medium sized witha few nice tanks and the main atracctions are the dolhpin, ice bear and penguins. They also do live shows that are worth seeing if you have ticket for the aquarium. Note you can go in and out as you wish as long as you keep your ticket. The top of the aquarium have som enclosures with diffrent small animals and bird. Its actually possible to enter one of the enclosures and be amongst the flamingos, ducks and capybara as long as you do not fdeed or touch the animals. I actually had a flamingo who decided to go between my legs so they are used to humans.
The other aquriums was very small where one is just a place where you can feed fish. If you pay extra you can also fish yourself.
There are also a few rides but most are for children.
The area also got some good restauarants and one of them allows you to grill the fish you caught or just simply buy stuff and have bbq.
This isnt a big park like USJ or Tokyo Disney but still worth the visit if you got time.

Sea Paradise is an excellent place to go with the whole family. There is a variety of food, attractions, as well as a very nice aquarium, complete with dolphin show. Prices are reasonable, and a season pass pays for itself after just two visits.

Hakkejima has not aged well over the years and inclement weather doesn't help - all the rides were closed; the aquarium, however, is its saving grace - well-kept, informative, and a dolphin and beluga whale show that was entertaining even in the rain; it's pricing is rather stiff - 3000 yen for the aquarium alone - less for younger children; paid and free parking are available - the monorail also visits, but it adds to costs that make one visit a year sufficient; the floating trash I saw on my last visit wasn't there, but that may be due to less visitors

Travelled a distance to arrive the place from Tokyo centre.

Closes at 5.45pm, went there and found place pretty empty. Yes, it looks run down. The animal show is nice. Worth it to watch the dolphin & beluga whale, esp the at night, 5.30pm ones.

Experience to touch the dolphin was limited cause you need to let nature takes it. No guide/ zookeeper to lead the dolphin to you to touch.. so, you can only watch the dolphin swimming around.

Feeding of the beluga whale is 300 yen for 3 mini fishes. Was a good experience for seeing a beluga whale for first timer.

We expected more for the dolphin fantasy. But was quite disappointed. Within 5 mins you are done.

Osaka one is so much better and nicer. I guess this Yokohama lacks maintenance and funds to keep the park up to date.

We do feel kinda rip off with the duration you travelled to particularly visit this location.

We went for the countdown 2020 and trains were still running after midnight so it was easy to go back to Yokohama.

The special countdown dolphins show was nice to watch.

The fireworks was awesome but only lasted for a short while.

This place was a complete let down, we were expecting a lot more. Now we went with the understanding this wasn't going to be on par with Disney or USJ but wow. For one thing three rides were not running - the roller coaster, drop tower and the barrel ride. With no clear reason as to why. It was a Saturday and the weather was nice. That was probably our hint to go elsewhere but we had driven down, paid the toĺls and figured the other aspects would make up for it. Then when we got into the park itself, it was nearly empty and run down. There was garbage in the water right next to were you have to walk and by the restaurants which offer views of the polluted harbor. It's also the same dirty water you can fish out of and eat fish you catch. My son's reaction, "You can fish here? What if you catch a shoe? "
All of the employees were nice when we interacted with them but they all looked horribly bored. Every single thing was dingy and neglected. The photos I saw on the internet must have been from when the place first opened years ago. It didn't look like that when we went.
The aqua show was lack luster and tacky. Riding the beluga is like riding your dog, unnecessary and cruel. Don't waste your time unless ham-fisted magic tricks are your thing.
As for the restaurants: there is a variety. We ate at Booze Cafe. The ladies working were on point and the food was alright. However, the prices were high, higher even than those at Disney. A plate of curry is ¥1400. At Disney ¥800. For a typical Japanese portion. The furniture and atmosphere was sadly old and tattered.
The water in the raft ride was green fron the algae build up and needed a powerwash. While water in the animal cages is so filthy you could barely see what was in it. It is a cage. They have very large animals in very small cages. No sun light. No fresh air. Its very depressing to see. Two fully grown walruses in a cage that has feces all over the bottom and the water quality gross. I wouldn't get in it out of fear of getting a bacterial infection. Dispicable. This is not a place that encourages conservation it totally exploits the animals and rips off the humans. Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo. All have far better aquariums. Just go to Disney or USJ to get your moneys worth if you want good rides. Do not be a fool. Do not go.

This is a regular amusement park with rides, aquariums, scheduled shows and performances, etc. The fishing experience, the pirate ship that will cruise you around the bay area, the train that will tour you around the park, the close encounter with sea animals, and their mini zoo are HUGE PLUS!!! The kids love it!!!

If you live around the area, I highly recommend you get the Annual Pass. It's like paying for 2 visits and you get a whole year of unlimited fun. It has lots of benefits from free drinks at the food court, discounts at restaurants and shops, and you can even get parking space at almost half the price. Simply inquire at their ticketing office if you plan to avail those.

PS. I've watched dolphin shows from enoshima aquarium and shinagawa aquarium, and the dolphin show here at Sea Paradise is the best of all. I enjoyed it very much!

I'll be honest. When I first walked into Hakkeijima Sea Paradise, I was a little jarred. Maybe it was the day I went, but the park was practically empty of people, I found myself asking more than once, "Am I in the right place?" But what that did mean was you could skip the lines and practically ride by yourself on everything. Huge perk! I personally didn't ride anything, but there's tons of options to pick from and rides range from small to HUGE. I went in for the aquarium, which was great! They had a nice selection of animals and the arrangement was really neat. Best part no doubt was riding the escalator up through a tube in the tank surrounded by fish, stingrays, and sharks. It's definitely worth the trip. I recommend checking this out the day you intend to go to Minato Mirai if you aren't staying in Yokohama.
