Beautiful scenery. Breath taking. If traveling from Tokyo or Ebina buy the Hakone Free Pass. This will be one of the travel amenities. Last boat ride leaves at 1700 so plan accordingly. Try to go sit all the way at the top. The cruise is about 20 minutes one way. Definitely a must do if in Hakone area.

I recommend that you visit early morning around 6, if you want to see and take pictures of the Mt. Fuji from the lake. It gets foggy and misty during the day. You might enjoy fogs and mist, which add a sort of mystic atmosphere around the lake, though.

Experience the beauty of Mt Fuji in the backround on a clear day while sailing on a vintage pirate themed ship between 4 quaint little lakeside stop. I recommend paying a few extra bucks and getting the first class seats. There are far fewer people and you literally get the front half of the boat to yourselves. Cable car down... More

We took the Shinkansen train from Tokyo at 7:30 am and arrived at Odawara at 8:10 am. We bought 2-day Hakone passes for 4,000 each. We took a train to Hakone-Yumoto, transferred to a train to Gora, transferred to a cable car to Sounzan station, transferred to Hakone Ropeway to Togenddai-Ko Pier. We took the Pirate ship to Hakone Machi... More

This is just another stop in the "1-day trip to Mt Fuji/Hakone" day-trip from Tokyo. A 15 minute boat ride to the cable-car - another waste of time. It is just a ploy to fill your day, especially when Mt Fuji is covered in clouds, as it often is. They even involve pirate ships ! Somebody please explain to me... More

Wonderful cruise with excellent views of the surrounding landscapes. Best to get the Hakone Free Pass at Shinjuku or Odawara to avoid ticketing q lines. We went just after Golden Week and the crowd was still quite big so can't I again how crowded it can get during weekends n during public holidays.

We stayed at the Hakone hotel on Lake Ashi - a superb location where you can see Mt Fuji in the far distance. Other lakes offer a better view of the mountain, but this is still a beautiful spot. The little town we were in had limited restaurants and apart from the dining at our hotel, they were all closed... More

A lovely lake surrounded by the high hills of the caldera. In May a lot of the attractions weren't open so we din't experience anything other than a 15 minute boat trip. Average at best.
