Quite worth checking out if you have a bit of time in Wakkanai. It's basically on the outer edge of the inner center and thus easy to walk to from most hotels.

The breakwater dome is a few minutes walk in a easterly direction from the main train and bus station in Wakkanai. It is an impressive architectural structure, which is over 400 meters long and 13 meters high. It was built in the 1930's and a...More

Short walk from our hotel is this breakwater dome. It is structurally interesting. Views surrounding the area was beautiful. There was an open field in front of it that can be used for exercising or a stroll.

It was a quick photography session for us on the unique shape of this building as the icy wind was blowing very strongly in Wakkanai while we were there. Had a good time admiring the uniqueness of the built up of the pillars.

We didn't visited this place specifically. But saw this several times when we go near it. Don't think it's worth a visit if you are not interested in historical monuments.

This place just locates right next to the hotel we stayed. It was convenient and free. A good place for pictures. I am not sure if it's a good place for a walk as it was very windy when we were there.
