A small museum but good to spend half an hour before sunset

This is right next to the Cape Noshappu which is perfect for sunset viewing - a small but decent aquarium with northern fish and some arctic animals.

Since we were at Cape Noshappu, we dropped by this aquarium to discover it was an amazing place to visit with all the unique fishes that we have never seen before. The spot sealion was unique too and the penguin. Fee was 500 yen together with science museum, a worthwhile entry for both. Before exiting from aquarium, we have a... More

I loved this little aquarium! There is a large pool with maybe 10 seals, and for just 100 yen, you can buy a little bucket of four fish to feed them. The seals were amazing. When they see the fish, some of them will slap the water with their flippers to attract your attention. The rest of the aquarium was... More

. . . just for being an aquarium in Wakkanai, of all places. If you bother to get all the way up to Wakkanai, you might as well take in the aquarium. Every aquarium in Japan has some unique aspect of it which separates it from the others, and for the Noshappu Aquarium, it's a chance to feed the seals!... More

If you are interested in what fish are swimming in the waters around Wakkanai pop in for a look. It is a small aquarium and won't take long to tour unless you are really into watching fish. A few seals, too.
