Even you didnt join their tour, should come here to see some history regard ecology. Nice modal, few live fish and marimo (during winter, only here bcoz observatory closed).

There is not a lot to see here apart from some fish in aquariums and a few of the legendary Marimo algae balls. The main function when we visited appeared to be equipment hire of skis and snowshoes.

We came by to this museum to see the history of Akankoso and have more information on the Marimo which is a unique algae found only in Lake Akanko. It is free entrance.

We signed up for a trek in the nearby forest and Tarou and Jirou lakes. The Museum provided us with snow boots and snow shoes and the guide was with us throughout the trek. He doesn't speak English (we could understand Japanese) and once in while he shared information about the forests, like pointing out bear marks or deer footsteps... More
