Atami is a gem of a place to visit. When taking the Shinkansen you actually go right past it so it was a pleasure to actually spend time here. The beach is beautiful and sandy and just beside the lovely yacht marina. We visited at...More

We stayed in a hotel close by the beach and it was freezing that day. I guess it's a better deal in summer.... but in winter rain, it was pretty depressing. Not much going on at all and not many shops opening. Will give Atami...More

With the beach, waves, blue water crashing in the breakwater, sand, walkways...a perfect outing spot. Not much facilities for beach activities. You just sit back and relax.

Atami Sun Beach is arguably the main attraction in the immediate area around Atami Station, and for good reason. While man made, you can have a taste of what you would experience on a tropical island or perhaps the French Riviera. Despite the continuous crowds...More

Nice beach. The water is not so clean (plastic and plastic bags...) . The sand is OK. Restaurants are close-by.

Sun beach is close to old downtown and so very convenient to access from most of hotels & shopping area. Also beach is very quiet, peaceful. A small park adjacent to beach is very pretty as alwayls with variety of season flowers.

Not that large, and will probably fill up quickly in the popular tourist months. But clean and tidy with sitting spots out of the sand.

Sun Beach is the main seaside area of Atami and the water is very warm from July through November. There is an area for kids and one can snorkel and see abundant sea life. We go a few times every year.
