There is something about the frog. I need to check it... but... this street is devoted to it... There is even a compact mini shrine devoted to it... This is a tourist trap as well... Where they will sell souvenirs and food... no, it is not as bad as other tourist traps, but... it is one of them, still...

There is not much to say about this street. The architechture is definately different from what you see elsewhere in matsumoto, but for me I can't really say. There is an old style communal house about midway. I'd recommend giving it a quick look, it will probably give you good picture of how you and I have romantasized japanese living.... More

Attractive in its way..a bit touristy. Worth a walk up and down despite that. Rather expensive for souvenirs though!

I'm beginning to think that visiting this street on a Wednesday may have accounted for my slight disappointment. The street itself is quaint and the houses/shops attractive too so well worth a visit any day of the week. I visited on a Wednesday early afternoon and all but a few of the (mainly lunch time restaurants) were open. None of... More

What a great shopping place. Even though it is a fairly small area there are really good places to shop. From food to handcrafted items and from odd old tools to incredible antiques. Make sure to check out the old fellow with antique weapons and other amazing old Japanese treasures. There are frogs everywhere in this area. We never found... More

A nice short walk along this street. There are shops around selling souvenirs but can be pricey. But there are nice little cafe to chill out and enjoy the slow pace of life in Matsumoto. The whole stay along this street will just take up less than 30 mins unless one decided to sit in the cafe. Central down town... More

A little overrated but this is a pleasant walk with a number of shops to look at. The Castle should be the first item to visit and the castle museum.
