Architecture here is quite unusual - a blend of Japanese, Chinese, Western styles. The entrance tower has stained glass, the gate has European style carving. There are many steps leading up to the shrine, and you're not supposed to walk up the center - that's...More

This shrine features some unusual characteristics, such as the entrance portal, a very modern-looking shop, and a massive statue of the local lord Maeda.

We visited the shrine right before sunset. It is quite peaceful and beautiful. I would suggest taking a moment to sit by the pond and enjoy the tranquility of the shrine and grounds.

We were told that Oyama Shrine was worth a stop by our tour guide. She was absolutely correct. Walking through the shrine grounds was a lovely shortcut from the walking from the Omi-cho Market to the castle.

Like the other shrines in Japan, this shrine wasn't any much different. Can be a short visit since it is near the market but can be missed if there isn't enough time.

I like to visit shrines. This Oyama Shrine has a long time of experience and very rarely gate. The gate looks like very European designed. It is rare. Could you try on the way from The Castle to Nagamachi -samurai resident?

This shrine has a beautiful stained glass window in the top section. Wander through the tori gate & then up to the shrine - access into the castle park. Has pond to one side & statues.

It's a shrine, but has a western style architecture at the gate, which makes it unique. Other than that, it is a common shrine.

Passing by this Shrine we called in and found the garden to be really lovely. A real oasis of calm and tranquility with a lovely pond. I have been collecting calligraphy from these Shrines through Japan so added another here. Recommend.
