We practice and inherit the Japanese traditional embroidery culture, "Sashiko." Sashiko is specialized in sewing each simple stitches by hands. It was developed as a method of strengthen the fabric and now it provide a beautiful and traditional hand-made crafts. We have a variety of crafts and display some art pieces. Professional craftsmen may be available for demonstration. No fee for entrance and feel free to come inside and take a look of our beautiful Sashiko pieces.

I visited Hida Sashiko on several occasions and would definitely go again if i had the chance to visit Takayama once more. I'm not sure about the workshops origin, but seems genuinely rural and traditional Japanese. Reminds of the place where old merchants and craftsmen...More
