Hurt beluga
Jul 2020
When cetaceans face an aggressor in the wild, they are able to swim away. When they are in captivity like in Nagoya Aquarium, there is nowhere to go but to live with them in such a confined space. Pictures show the hurt caused by one beluga at this aquarium. It must stop!! Stop visiting places like this.

Dolphin show disappointment
Aug 2020 • Family
This was the first time in years I’ve been to this aquarium, and the first time with my family.

Overall, it was a disappointment. It’s expensive to get in, and you don’t get what you pay for.

Positives: A reasonable range of aquatic creatures on display, decent dealing with the coronavirus situation, a nice restaurant inside, great turtles, staff fine, lots of penguins (although they were crowded together a bit too much).

Negatives: The dolphin show has been cut to ten minutes in length, with 5 minutes of that just info about dolphins on a screen, so really just 5 mins of dolphin action. No more dolphin splashing or any of the fun stuff. If they cut the show entirely because of Covid I’d get it (although the price of entry should then be reduced), but making the show so pathetic while still keeping it in makes no sense. No one could believe it after they said it was over almost as soon as it had begun. The other big negative is the price, although I wouldn’t mind if the exhibits merited it. Finally, the sharks they have are tiny, and overall there aren’t enough of the famous aquatic creatures (only tiny sharks, no killer whales, few dolphins).

Just fabulous!
Feb 2020
My husband & I had 1 day free in Nagoya & we decided to visit the aquarium. It's super easy to get to on the subway & it's such a beautiful aquarium. We loved the dolphin show, which is visible from your seats & also clearly projected onto a huge LED screen & you can see the dolphins underwater and know exactly where to look when they burst out of the water.
There are so many areas to explore, it really did take us the whole day, we arrived at 11am & left by 4pm.
Our favorite was the Beluga whale training - this is a must NOT miss. We were literally 2 feet away from these beautiful creatures & it's actually really a performance they're putting on, not really training - we were overawed, & I've never seen anything like this in any other aquarium in the world
There were so many wonderful things to see - the tornado of sardines is a wonderful sound & light show. We were also lucky enough to catch the seal show outdoors & the trainers were putting up a fence - we didn't know why, but immediately after the seal show, the fairy penguins in the next enclosure were let out into the fenced off area for feeding & they were literally right beneath our feet. The trainers do a really amazing job & I consider our visit to the aquarium one of the highlights I've done anywhere in the world.

Well Maintained - but concerned about the orcas
Jan 2020
This aquarium was a lot better than the kyoto one as it is larger and has both orcas and beluga whales. The orca training is in the side pools of the stadium. We recommend taking the seats on the higer level so you could actually see the real live show rather than rely on the screen only. My son noticed the orcas have droopy fin and told me that the orcas are sick and it could be due to being in captivity. That made me rather sad.

The beluga whale training was amazing. They are such beautiful animals. The presentation is held in a smallish room called "under the Northern Lights". Unfortunately there's is limited space so you need to get there early. We were fortunate that the children found two gaps to squeeze into. otherwise you have to watch the whole show on the screen.

Dolphin shows and the rest of the aquarium are normally found in other aquariums. It was an enjoyable experience and it does give children and adults the opportunity to learn more about sealife. Unfortunately, I have also now come to realise the negative side of having large animals in captivity. Feeling sad but have a renewed love for animals and their wellfare.

There is a combined ticket that gives you access to 4 attractions at the Port of Nagoya. It is indeed very good value. However, it is pretty rushed to get to all 4 attractions.

Well run Aquarium for young n old!
Dec 2019 • Family
The Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium is one of the best i ever visited! The killer whale is one of the rare ones you will ever get to see. plus the dolphins n belugas, it makes the experience really good. And the close encounter n the closeness of the trainers with the whales, dolphins, beluga really makes the experience more interactive than usual.
strongly recommended!!

Rare find
Dec 2019 • Family
We went with 2 teenagers and 11 yr-old. Very impressed with tanks of belugas, orca, sardines which we have not seen over in Singapore SEA aquarium. Their dolphins performance is in Japanese only and nothing to rave about having seen better shows in Gold Coast. Fun filled 4 hours spent there though. Easily accessible by train.

Interesting shows and cute belugas
Nov 2019 • Couples
We went on a cloudy day and it was interesting to see the animals play in the shows etc. It was my first time seeing belugas and killer whales up close so it was a novelty. Nice aquarium, but definitely can improve on quality of shows. Also a little old - can use a renovation!

シロイルカとシャチがいる水族館
Dec 2018
This is a very fantastic aquarium. There many fishes and water animals. White Dolphin Beluga, Killer Whales, Turtles and many beautiful jellyfishes. You can go for walking, couples, families and friends. The aquarium was just like an amusement park. You can enjoy with anybody. Everything was so beautiful and you can enjoy the time a lot there. Stuffs were very nice and kind. Its really great to go there especially on rainy day. All Nagoya residences are proud of this aquarium for sure!!

Love the Sardine Tornado show
Oct 2019
The highlight of the aquarium is the shows, both indoor and outdoor. The Sardine Tornado is quite a unique, it dances with light and sound. The second best is the Beluga Show which I've never seen in any other aquarium before. For the Orca and Dolphin show is similar to others aquarium. If you want to experience them all, you need to organize the time and the routing inside the building well.
