This museum provides a low key experience of the history and culture of Zambia. it is peaceful and interesting and a welcome respite from the full-on activities if you have a few days in Livingstone. Wander through at your own pace and soak up the the exhibits and information.

There are some interesting exhibitions, however it is quite dated and not air conditioned! Quite a few Livingstone artefacts.

It is amazing to just get a feel of how old Zambian culture is by visiting this museum. It is easily accessible just in the centre of town but so quiet and peaceful you forget all the world outside.

Good exhibtions on slavery and the introduction of Christianity to Zambia. The rest is reasonable for the area, don't expect the Natural History Museum and you won't be disappointed. Entry fee for children is too high and you cannot take photos. Excellent clean bathroms. OK for an afternoon visit to get out of the sun. Parking outside is ok, just... More

Great museum, very lovely and knowledgeable guide. The museum, is not about Livingston as I had expected ,rather it was a history of the development of the human race in Africa. Many wonderful exhibits, from replicas of the development of the skull from early-humans to present day man, replications of early hunter-gathers, villages to present day, very moving statements of... The museum has a lot of information about Zambia and the region. Also about David Livingstone, there is plenty of information. There are two rooms were the difference in traditional life style and the city now, is perfectly shown. Also the rooms with the animals is nice to walk through. It's not a modern museum (it looks like the 1960s-70s),... More

The life of David Livingstone is told in detail we know him as the first person to discover the falls which where known in our local language - Mosi-oya-Tunya (the smoke that thunders), he later named after Queen Victoria - Victoria Falls now known as one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

In the museum yo will find a somewhat detailed history from stone-age to present day Zambia. Although the prices for locals and tourists vary a great deal - a practise that would certainly not be allowed in the UK. This is common throughout Zambia in places where the public can visit. Nevertheless, the museum is well worth a visit, in... More

This is a must do for any traveller but more so for the Scottish traveller. What a wealth of information they have on David Livingstone. I learned so much more than I knew from this Museum. First Class

The museum has a great amount of information through natural and social life of Livingstone, Zambia and the region. It's worth a couple of hours visit, but have in mind that it you are not in a top notch museum, as it clearly needs some repairs. But it's worth the visit, once you're in the city.
