If you need a break for hiking the Falls, schedule a stop at the Livingston Museum. This is a little gem right int he middle of Livingstone. It contains some marvelous artifacts of the great explorer (his coat and hat) as well as a wonderful history of the area's natives.

It's not a must see for a traveler. The museum itself was very old and not maintained well. The topics covered had no logical pattern on how it was presented and most artifacts did not have descriptions on how, what or why.

I visited with my adult daughter who lives in Lusaka. I learnt about David Livingstone in school but this trip fills all the gaps. Better still, there are so many exhibits of his life that makes him come alive for a few hours. All for a fee of $5! Have a meal before you go though, there's a fair amount... More

I enjoyed going through the political history of Zambia and especially seeing the many pictures of the pre-independence and post independence Zambia. The David Livingstone section of the museum was also very interesting. Though I wish I had enough time to read the many letters that David Livingstone wrote to various recipients. My Children and I learnt a lot from... More

Livingstone museum. The museum turned out to be more about the African dilemma than about Livingston. However, it was quite interesting. We eventually came across a section that was dedicated to Dr. Livingstone and his exploits. This was more interesting for us.

We had a few hours before returning home from Livingstone and decided to visit the Livingstone museum. From the get-go, it felt very unlike the other well-maintained museums we were used to. Much of it was on Zambian (and even human) history with very little dedicated to David Livingstone who put this place on the map.

We were intrigued by what we'd found researching the Livingstone area and this museum and thought it would be a good investment of our time. When we exited our taxi upon arrival to the museum, we were besieged by peddlers/hustlers. This was unnerving and unexpected since we'd just been traveling through Namibia and Botswana and had not seen anything like... More

This museum provides a low key experience of the history and culture of Zambia. it is peaceful and interesting and a welcome respite from the full-on activities if you have a few days in Livingstone. Wander through at your own pace and soak up the the exhibits and information.

There are some interesting exhibitions, however it is quite dated and not air conditioned! Quite a few Livingstone artefacts.
