Now a Unesco Heritage site and no wonder - there is a magnificent collection of buildings, the Register and some madrases each of which is beautifully decorated with interesting architecture. The main portal of Ulugbek and the minarets are good photo opportunities. See it during...More

Was on a business trip and had to wake up at 0600 of a bitterly cold morning (-3 degree) due to the limited time avaiable. Glad we did it - it's one of the most splendid monuments I've visited. Now planning to go back with...More

This is a place I have wanted to see for years, it did not disappoint. Visit a couple of times, at sunrise and sunset, stay for the light show but check its on. Probably the best kept monument in all of central asia

Visited during an international traditional singing event. The space is totally unique. Paid the ticket to get in for a full morning but each day afterwards enjoyed it from the viewing point at street level.

That's probably the first place one should see in Samarkand. Best to go with the guide who can explain you everything in more detail.

Amazingly, our visits to this UNESCO World Heritage Site showed practically no other tourists. Our guide, from Advantour, wryly commented 'and yet I had to wait 3 hours to see the statue of David in Italy'. This site has been lovingly restored to its glory,...More

You can't say you have been to Samarkand unless you have visited this famous square. I suggested that you visit this place twice, one during the day and one during the night. During the day, you see people in action, locals, visitors, etc. During the...More

The Registan is absolutely mindblowing - you MUST see this place, it is so beautiful. We visited the Registan twice, the first time during the time and the second time at night. You certainly need more than 3 hours to visit all the sights and...More
