The zoo was established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in 1968. Our zoo is one of the most important and diverse tourism attractions on both local and global level. As the largest zoo of its type in the Middle East, and for more than 50 years, our zoo has continued to convey the pioneering vision of the late Sheikh Zayed, demonstrating his keenness to preserve wildlife in the United Arab Emirates by preserving the environment and sustaining its resources in accordance with the best global standards.

    Under construction
Saddens me to write this review as I have been many times to Al ain zoo in the past and loved it. Right now most of the zoo is under construction. Depending on who you ask, they estimate by January they will finish the upgrades. Currently, even the bathrooms are under renovation, the main bathrooms right outside have stalls but no toilet bowls. Only 2 working toilets. Signage is sparse so you mostly wander around and find yourself back to where you started. Some areas are cordoned off for construction. We went yesterday, Friday and there was no Hippo, no elephant and because of the lack of clear directions or lack of any map, we missed the penguins. On the plus side, it was lovely to see the big cats, especially the white tiger and the serval. The gorrila, and other monkeys were impressive to see. One big advantage, for kids, most of the exhibits are kid friendly and toddlers can see it from their height and viewpoint. My children spent most of the time walking or in the stroller and were able to see all the animals. They are open from 9am. We did not take the safari package at aed 1,000 it was definitely not on our budget.

    Very big Al Ain Zoo
Al Ain Zoo is a fantastic destination for nature enthusiasts, boasting a vast and diverse array of wildlife. The expansive grounds showcase the zoo's commitment to providing a spacious and comfortable environment for the animals. However, it's important to note that access is limited to visitors with personal vehicles, as walking through the entrance is not allowed. Despite this restriction, the size of the zoo allows for an immersive and enjoyable experience, making it a must-visit for those looking to explore the wonders of the animal kingdom in a unique and expansive setting.

    Wonderful place.
The zoo is a must see in the area. We saw a lot of animals we had never seen in a zoo. The giraffes and rhinos area was amazing. The wild birds area too. We felt a bit sorry for the lions as they don't seem very happy but every animal there was very well taken care of. The price is also affordable to anyone. There's a free of charge train to take you back to the exit point after you have visited the whole place. I recommend to all to visit.

We were told at the ticket counter, that many animal habitats and attractions are closed due to some flooding that happened a month ago. But after driving from Abu Dhabi for one hour and half. It was too late to disappoint the kids.
Upon entering, comparing reality to the website, it was a very big disappointment ☹️

I don’t recall getting that much disappointment in any other attraction in UAE. The few animals that are exhibited look pathetic. Their man made habitats are inadequate and lacks minimum standards.

Food and beverage kiosks added to the mediocre scene. Not that I expected fancy restaurants. But at least decent vendors to cater to the visitors.

Would love to have the great rulers of UAE to order its closure until it’s made like a proper zoo. As with everything they do, Emiratis are the pride of all Arabs for doing everything as perfect as it could be.

It was so fun! Our driver was amazing and so friendly. He shared his knowledge with us and the animals came real close to us.

Clean place but half of the attractions were closed and buggy driver would casually accuse you of not paying for buggy when you already paid hundreds for family to ride and even didn't listen to location mentioned properly and brought us to wrong location and told us to get off.
Horrible experience. If you have a better location just go for that instead of this place.

#Al Ain Zoo in Abu Dhabi, and it was truly a remarkable experience. The zoo offers a unique opportunity to observe animals in their natural habitats, providing an immersive and educational experience for visitors of all ages. One of the highlights of the visit was the chance to feed the animals mainly the Giraffes. It was fascinating to see their behavior up close and personal, and it created a sense of connection with these magnificent creatures. The open-roof 4-wheel drives provided a safe and comfortable way to navigate through the zoo, allowing us to get an up-close view of the animals while maintaining a respectful distance. The professionalism of the drivers was commendable. They not only ensured our safety but also shared valuable insights about each animal we encountered. Even the birds flying around were not overlooked, as the drivers provided background stories and information about them as well. I highly recommend this tour, especially for families with kids. It offers a great opportunity for children to learn about different species, their habitats, and conservation efforts. The interactive nature of the experience keeps kids engaged and excited throughout the visit. Overall, my time at Al Ain Zoo was a fantastic experience. The chance to witness animals in their natural habitats, coupled with the knowledgeable guides and the opportunity to feed them, made it a truly memorable outing. Whether you're a wildlife enthusiast or simply looking for a fun and educational activity for your family, Al Ain Zoo is definitely worth a visit.

Yesterday I've tried the safari part. The experience inside the safari itself was good. However, the whole experience, from entry to exit, was one of the worst I've ever had and I don't recommend anyone to visit it. The ticket itself is highly overpriced, and when you reach there, the make you walk from entrance till you reach to the starting point of the safari trip, a distance that is can't be considered as walkable at all in UAE summer times. When you inquire about utilizing carts or shuttle service, they surprise you with additional charge, on top of the overpriced 1000 ticket, and charge a AED 42 per person (who charges a shuttle service per person anyway?!!). Given the size of zoo and the spread of visits areas in the safari and thereafter, you find yourself compelled to purchase this overpriced service that came as a total surprise for you during the trip itself and without paying any other types of refreshments or other entertainments.

I would definitely give the experience as 0 out of 10 and for sure would never recommend anyone to visit it during summer or even during winter if such treatment of the shuttle service continues.
