Nice place for visiting

With nice panoramic views this old orthodox church preserves a very interesting fresco painting alonmg its walls. Interesting also how the former church has been adapted as mosque.

Here is very historic monastery which has been dates A.D. 1260. Even had been destoryed many times, it is exiciting to see brillant colours of the frescos in the walls and ceiling. It is beign used as mosque too nowadays. Different atmosphere where you can see muslim prayers under the spirit of church.

Very little and cute (part witch is always open). It's interesting to visit the part, which now is a mosque, because you can still see the Christian paintings upon a towel (that the prayers can't see it). But don't go extra there to see it, it isn't that special.

Actually the place has not much to offer, while converting church into mosque I guess they covered some parts of the frescoes. Promising but frustrating.

If you are in Trabzon, of course visit this places but inside there is not so much thing to see. The lighting system of some parts must be improved because they are not working good.

this is a great historic place. very nice location with a beautiful view to the City and the Black Sea. Hagia Sophia still has wonderful frescos which are open to the public without visiting the mosque part.

One of the oldest places in Trabzon. You will feel the history while you are looking at the old paintings on the walls and roof.

Aya Sophia is located in the city of Trabzon close to the Black Sea, from the Aya Sophia yard we can look at the black sea. Aya Sophia is a church, then a museum and part of the building is now used for the mosque. On the ceiling, pillars still visible with clear images holy communion, images of saints, very... More
